So here's the situation. I am leaving for my sophomore year of college in four days. My school is about an hour to an hour and a half away (about 75 miles).

I have a boyfriend who will be a senior in high school this fall (yeah, he's a baby/I'm a cradle robber yada yada yada) anyway, he's obviously still in my home town. October will mark our two year anniversary. We survived last year just fine being apart. I wasn't that far away and I returned home about every other weekend to visit and he came up for a day every once in a while too so it was a rather smooth transition and we survived just fine.

But now here lies the problem. My mother went off on me today. And all because I asked if our family had plans for labor day weekend. Anyway she's sick of me and told me I was not welcome home at any time during the school year. That's not to say she won't let me stay, just that any time I spend at home during the school year will be the most miserable time of my life because she'll "make it that way."

So here is the question. Do I return home throughout the school year to visit my boyfriend and keep our relationship alive, or make him drive to see me every time he wants to and stay away from my house?

It's the same distance for him to travel as it is for me, but he is busier on weekends than I am. So it'd be fewer weekends that he could come up. And when he comes up I only see him for a day and when I go home we get the whole weekend.

So I'm stuck. Do I force myself to tolerate my home environment to see him or do I force him to drive to me?

And if you don't think my home environment is that bad, well...it is. My mom screams at me no matter what. She also smacks me around. Only me though. Not any of my siblings nor my father. Just me. She daily tells me that I am a waste of space and air and just makes me feel awful about myself. Even though I am in the honors program at school, have a healthy, stable relationship and really have done quite well so far in life. I also really really love school. I love being there and the environment and the freedom. But I love my boyfriend fiercely. We're discussing potentially getting married in about four years or so.

So...what would you do?

If I go home to see him I'll be miserable and if I don't I might lose him due to the lack of in person contact.

So I'd either be miserable at home but have him or be miserable at school and lose him.
