I dated my girlfriend for over a year and we started dating our senior year in highschool. We broke up during the summer because I was an atheist and she was a religious person, and she didn't think we'd make it work.
After a year apart, she reached out and said she made a mistake and despite the mutual animosity over the break up, we talked things out for more than 5 hours. Something we both came to admire.
We dated for another year, but her family committed her to do a year long mission for the church and she said she wanted to do it after thinking about it for a while.
She spent a month with me before she left, and during which she found a ring I had. She asked what it was, and I told her it was a promise ring I was going to give her before she broke up with me the first time. She didn't know what to say, and said she didn't think I loved her that much then. She said it meant so much to her.
I don't make a lot of money right now, and before she left, I proposed to her with the promise ring, saying I was that serious about her and I wanted to marry her more than anything. She said she'd say yes for real when she came home to me and gave me a kiss.
A few days before she left, she sent me 3 engagement ring ideas.
Does my proposal, and horrible as it was, count as a real one?

I have been seeing a girl for about 5 weeks now. We've been out several times and are sleeping together. And while I'm insanely picky (I can't overstate this), she knocked my socks off from day one. I'm getting to the point where I don't really feel like investing time in other women (which I don't really have anyway since I work so many hours).

The signs from her are mostly promising. She initiates LOTS of physical contact (taking my arm, grabbing my hand, rubbing my leg). When we spend the night she barely lets me an inch away from her, and will squeeze my hand or body as if she were dangling off a cliff. She's started offering to pay for things (e. g., "let me take you to dinner"), she's begun proposing plans instead of just waiting for me to do so (during our date: "what are you doing tomorrow?"), and she recently even suggested a mid-week sex romp (lol). So it's clear that she's into me too, BUT...

... it also would appear she's still on the apps (She received a notification while we were on her couch and her phone was right in my view. I wasn't TRYING to see it!). She also hasn't progressed to asking me much about personal things going on in my life yet. And even though we were together a few days ago and she was meeting friends for drinks later, it was clear I wasn't invited.

That said, I'm leaning toward having "the talk" in the next week or so but have apprehensions about it being 'too soon.' Some say MINIMUM of 3 months. Others seem to think one month is plenty. I've done both extremes (from 2 weeks to several months) and feel like 5-8 weeks is probably the sweet spot.

Thoughts on how to approach the subject and timing?
