i see it as disrespect to do this to someone.

its like tellin them they can't handle rejection.

even if you were trying to spare their feelings, once they find out you lied, they'll just hate you.

so why not just be honest with the person and tell them you're nt interested?

i also see it as thinking too highly of your-self when you reject someone by lying.

its like saying you rejecting them is just a terrible thing.

it got me thinking as to who people are more likely to approach or ask out.

I'd be most likely to ask out an acquaintance.

if it were a close friend, I'd be afraid to ruin the friendship. she'd have to show signs that she wants me to ask her out.

a stranger, well that'd be pretty easy but I'd rather just ask for their number than on a date cause I wouldn't date a girl I didn't at least know some basic things about.

a work/classmate, maybe, if they seemed chill enough or I caught them looking at me often or something.
