Search Results: approaching an older woman

I'm going to al-anon to help my friend out, and she's aware of it. Keep in mind she's a recovering alcoholic.. so i'm aware her mind is wonky

I told her how my first meeting went today, and how it was great. however the gender ratio was like 8 Women:1 Men.(everyone was way older tho, like 40+)

At the end of the meeting an older guy approached me and said "Hey if you're uncomfortable with all the women here, feel free to join the men's club on X day" i said to him "eh im okay, but thank you" and i told that story to my female friend

She flipped at me and said "uhh why does it matter? why dont you just go? i bet you're just tryna pick up chicks. that's sad" and so on so on

however she told me she didn't wanna date me, why would she assume something like that and flip at me (maybe its the alcohol withdrawal that made her mad?)

Just seems like females give bad advice? They probably give good advice on periods, birth, clothes, shoes etc but when it comes to dating? Nope reason why I believe the females on here give bad dating advice because they tell the guy their helping, to take a stand be confident and make a move but when he does it backfires. There's an old saying women give horrible dating advice simply because 99% of them aren't the ones who have to make a move so how can they possibly know about approaching?

I have my own style when it comes to approaching women, but I'd like to hear what kind of approaches you prefer. The reason why i said "black guy" is because im really tailor making this question for myself. Not everyone is attracted to the same things, but i want to see if that would play a role in how you respond to a cold approach

I'd also like to know if you have a problem with random guys taking an interest in you and showing it by approaching you. For the purpose of the question though, lets assume that the guy is within your age range. I'm not talking about random 60 year olds or homeless men, or guys who just look really thugish/unkept

I also added a poll. i'd like to know if you have a problem in general with being approached for the reason i stated in the question title. The question to answer is: Do you have a problem with a random guy within your age range approaching you because he thinks you are attractive, and wants to get your number? I'm just trying to gauge the sentiments (im sure other guys will find the poll results useful for them too)

A man or a woman approaches you somewhere. They are decent. hold a conversation,have a stable life , finds you cute, attractive.. and wants to get to know more about you. Would you agree to a coffee date later on ?

The question in the title is the question of the poll. The below question is just an extra.

Would you want to be approached by an older person if he is decent in his/ her approach or do you prefer that they don't make a move in the first place ?
