my girl bestfreind is insecure and has low confidence in herself

she is always getting depressed and complianing that guys don't like her and never will, she says she can't flirt or has never flirted but she has and she can, she just doesn't know what she is doing.. anyway she is also always saying she's fat and ugly when she's actually beautiful

i think and have said to her that the reason guys either don't like her or don't approch her it is because of her negative attitude/vibe

she always takes jokes too seriously in fact she takes most things seriously

how can I get her to feel confortable with her body? how can I get her to have a more positive attitude? how can I get her to realize that there are guys out there who will like her all she has to do is be more possitive and flirty? how can I teach her to purposly flirt? or prove to her that she already is flirting? how can I teach her what to look for to know that THAT GUY ACTUALLY LIKES HER?

these are things that frustrates me about her, I am going annonymous on this one because if she see's it she might get mad.. because I even got her on this site to try help her out but she never asks any questions or knows what to ask and there are so many questons I think she could benifit from asking but she will only get mad if I tell her to ask them... anyway I am ramaling on, just please answer my questions listed above :) thanks

There's this idea I keep seeing where everyone's like:

You can't change someone - it's impossible - it can't be done.

Yet I see people get influenced and change themselves and their behaviors everyday.

The biggest culprit being the media.

The media has caused so many people to change how they view the world, how they view others, how they view themselves - influenced behaviors to focus more so on superficial aspects etc.

The truth is - you can change a person - but it depends on if they want to be changed or not.

Growing up, life brought a few troubled people into my life; my mom was a teacher and she worked with a lot of the problem students. My sister's original family treated her like sh*t, so my mom went in and ended up adopting her at 15.

Her life was heading in a bad direction - she got into some pretty poor relationships - but with a lot of directing, positive influence, and support - she finally got on her feet. Her whole attitude about life and people did a complete 180.

Same thing with a couple of my brother's friends - we helped one guy get out of a gang, and get into college. He graduated and moved down to texas where he's pursuing a career in criminal justice.

See what I'm sayin? People can be changed, but only if they allow it.

It's the same thing why we have this whole " above the influence" thing - because too many teens allow themselves to be influenced and changed by drugs / alcohol - but most emphasized here, is the people they hang around with.

I think a lot of people went through that growing up - allowing someone else to change you so you could fit in, or what not.

It's a bit of a fallacy to say people aren't changed by other people - reality speaks very clearly in respects to that.

So I say yes, others' can change someone else for better or worse.

It happens every single day.

This question I posted because another user was talking about why some women go after bad boys to try and change them - and a lot of people said you can't. Lol but I've done it before so :P there are a lot of bad guys / girls who get that one positive influence and try to change themselves for the better so.
