Search Results: signs of a shy guy interested in me

So this may be obvious but I am trying to figure out if this guy in my class likes me-he has been giving me mixed signals. I just recently became single and I am wondering if he just didn't try anything because I was taken. I am almost positive he is a shy guy. Here’s the signs:

Good Signs:
• If I catch his eyes from across a room, he looks at me and will sometimes quickly look away
• Blushes when I talk to him
• Listens to every word I say and responds when I am in earshot
• He was telling our group today about a friend (girl) he is going to visit in california but quickly looks up to me and says it is a group of old friends and mentions a lot of people are going
• Looks to me to be laughing when he makes a joke in class
• Checks ALL my snaps
• Agrees and likes everything I say I like
• Last weekend sat as close as possible to me at a party the whole night-touching at one point
• If I ask for help on anything he doesn't hesitate
• Leans in when he talks to me
• Gets jealous or immediately interested when my ex comes up in convo
• Stands near or body facing me when I am around
• Gets quiet when I am around, is normally pretty loud
• Gets nervous around me

Bad Signs:
• Recently hasn't made efforts to hang around where I am at school with our group of friends
• Doesn't hardly initiate text conversation out side our group chat
• Hasn't been as joking with me as he used to be in person and in group chats
• Doesn't send me private snaps, only group snaps
• Doesn't sit next to me in class and almost seems to avoid sitting next to me
• Seems to avoid the group text conversation as soon as I say anything in it
• Is always on his phone when we are alone- like he is trying to avoid talking to me or is too nervous to. Not sure.
• Doesn't watch me or look for me in class (yes we can see out of the corner of our eyes guys) as much as he used to

I really like this guy from work. We work for different teams, so we don´t interract work-wise. I noticed from my first day at work that he is noticing me and checking me out. Back that time, I was seeing somebody, so I didn´t reciprocate. One day we were both late at work and he introduced himself in elevator. Since that day we started to say hello to each other. I can see that he blushes when he sees me and often is very nervous. Once I didn´t notice him and it looked like ignoring, so he started to ignore me and even acted offended (looking away when I tried to make an eye contact). After I initiated a small talk with him, he greets me and smiles.

This week I started to notice that he stays late at work (I always work in the evening as I prefer to arrive later to work) and even his colleagues started to mock him for that, like "What´s going on with you? You didn´t used to work that late". There are also more signs that he may like me, but he´s never texting or didn´t add me on facebook. Never initiates anything - when I smile, he smiles back, when I say hello, he does too, etc.

Do you think he´s shy or just not interested and I´m just projecting this in my head? Why would he behave this way?

I've always been told that "the guy is supposed to chase" or that "if a guy likes you, he will make a move." But I have heard of countless relationships - successful ones at that - starting because the girl made the first move. As well, I've been in positions where a shy guy seemed to have interest in me, but I never did anything and neither did he. I sometimes wonder if I had took initiative how that would have worked. Guys, would a girl making the first move steer you away from her? Or do you guys find that appealing? Girls, have you made the first move before? How did things work out?
(By first move, I mean showing a definite sign of interest. It can be anything from telling the guy she likes him, asking for his number, asking him out, e. t. c).
