What do you guys do non-verbally to show you're interested?

I'm not sure about this guy, everyone teases us that there's something there but I'm not sure. He touches me but more in a cute sort of way (as I am quite petite) than a flirtatious way and I've caught him staring but I'm not sure if he is just day dreaming haha. His eyes are always dilated when we're together but he claims that they're just sensitive as I asked if he's always high to get an explanation. He does joke around about us sleeping together but I think its his way of reacting to the teasing? He sometimes limits his interaction and i think he is usually shy around girls, so I'm a bit confused. He said he likes me when my friend asked why he treats me so nicely, but I think he just meant in comparison to her? The mixed signals are frustrating me and I don't want in ask in case I've got it completely wrong.

I met a guy (on an online dating site... ugh) a few weeks ago and we really hit it off! We chatted for a while and decided to meet up for drinks. Our 'date' was super comfortable, we chatted for hours without having any typical first date/meeting awkwardness. His body language and laughter suggested he was really into it.

After that, we continued to text for quite some time - alternating (for the most part) who'd start the convo. He'd keep suggesting things to do in the future but never set a timeframe (apparently that was my job according to my friends whoops)

He came by my study spot to say hi and bye the other night and it was cute but probably pretty awkward on my part because I was with a friend and in sweats - woo.

The next night we tried to meet up at a big street fest but my phone wasn't into that idea and kept shutting off. I saw him from across the room for like 5 seconds while I had my arms around two of my guy friend's shoulders (my drunk go-to). Im not sure if he saw this. We kept texting, or trying to, all night.

The next morn we were talking about hangover cures and all of a sudden he send "my friend was hitting on me pretty hard and I'm not really looking for a relationship atm so I'm currently having that awkward talk". WHAT? not into a relationship?

I sort of brushed it off and we've been continuing to chat as per normal. However, he's been using a lot of "good luck, my friend!" language which is contradictory to his winkey faces and flirtatious texts.

HELP - I think he's a super sweet guy and don't want to make a fool out of myself by getting my hopes up
