in the cold war america acted as a necessary counterbalance and adversary to world communism

obviously america had her allies, most notably in great britain and in europe

less notably in dicatorships of countries that werent capitalist and where communism represented hope for the oppressed.

america funded these oppressors to counter communism

americans fought and died supporting regimes

then when the cold war ended a vacuum was created

in many places islamist uprisings took the place of the discredited democracy and communism

again the people tried to take control

in europe things were stable

in the communist heart lands things moved right or retained a defeated stability. a name without a threat.

iraq #1 happened

9/11 happened

from freeing nation states america had come to represent the oppressor

by funding dictatorships in oil countries america had came to be identified as the devils ugly friend

and to americans and most europeans america had came to represent a world policeman

a super UN

a superman, there to exert pressure and force on the evils of this world

to many across the world and even in arab countries america had this image

the world policeman

iraq changed all that by exposing both the limits of american power in real terms and the inherent conflicts in having a world body vs a hyperpower state

many had predicted the end of history when communism fell

many took american power as eternal and absolute

''the hyper power''

reality has been more cruel

with bush gone and the wars for the most part cooled down somewhat

with 9/11 fading from view

with the election of obama

america is rapidly losing the angry drunken oil addicted giant image

new problems present themselves..iraq and north korea

and over the hill... climate change and real energy crisis

the rise of china

the issue on the horizon are myriad and complex.

the question is this

what is the role of america in this new era we find ourselves in

should america be the worlds policeman?

standing up for liberty justice and the american way

or is this idea outmoded.

is it a relic of a discredited theory

or the one thing we must cherish and retain despite its loss?

Its seems that people mistake words for realities.

I'm not a fan of red neck conservatism, but in some ways at least they are honest.

how many liberal hypocrites are there out there who would die if there daughter came home with a black guy, or who actually are black guys hating there own and acting like house slaves for the master.

how many are there out there that bitch about global warming and the war in iraq and still drive there 4x4 to the local store, guzzling oil without a hint of irony.

how many have close minded attitudes to things such as abortion, diversity, gun control, etc...ignoring anything that falls outside or partisan polemical argument.

no one seems to see how those who are supposedly promoting free rights, are also imposing a degree of economic slavery.

there is a lot to be said about fox news and republican bias, but liberal hypocrisy and ignorance gets an easy time.

i am a liberal, in that I believe in freedom above all, but some of my so called ilk make me sick.
