I had stopped talking to my ex even though he wanted to stay friends because I couldn't handle the jealousy when he got a new girlfriend. I told him through email that I couldnt talk to him for a while, and he just responded saying him and his girlfriend have issues. I just told him that as much as I would like to help, it would be inappropriate. Then he replied saying not to worry about it because they probably broke up that night. I just said, sorry I hope you're okay and stopped talking to him. He kept sending me random snaps (not inappropriate or anything), I just didn't reply. They didn't seem directed toward me and they weren't frequent. We hadn't talked for a while and I finally feel better, like I can start moving forward. Then today, Prince died (I love Prince and I am so sad for him and his family :[ ) him knowing that I love Prince, decided to text me even though I told him I deleted his number and that I can't talk to him. I'm pretty sure him and his girlfriend are still together. I don't understand what he wants because he was the one who broke things off so he could be with her because he had liked her for years. He says he wants me as a friend, but I even told him that I felt like he was just trying to tell me what I want to hear so that he can try and have a back up plan. He said that he doesn't want to do that to me and that he just cares about me and doesn't want to lose me. I seriously don't understand this man. I just replied with a sad face when he texted me about prince and left it at that. Part of me feels bad because we were friends for a long time before we got intimate. Am I being a bitch? Maybe he just really needs a friend right now. Am I right to stop talking to him and not reply to his texts/emails?

I have been getting really jealous of my ex friends with benefits and his new girlfriend. I decided it would be best if I stopped talking to him. He messaged me and told me that he didn't want to stop talking or being friends but he would leave me alone if that's what I wanted. I feel bad because we have been friends for 5 years. The friends with benefits thing happened randomly, he never pressured me into it or anything. At the time I was in an open relationship which I quickly learned does not work for me when I got feelings for my friend. I ended things and have been spending time by myself. I don't think he is trying to just keep me around for sex. And I feel bad that my stupid jealousy is making it so I can't even be a good friend. Is it best to stop talking to him? Or stay friends and just deal with the jealousy? Thanks.
