I’m going to try to sum this up as much as I can: I met this guy who’s a 2nd year law student on a dating site a couple months ago. He asked me on the first date, went well, I asked him for the second. Things were fine, he’d text me good morning almost every morning and check in throughout the day.

My issue stemmed from the fact that he hasn’t made an effort to see me in about a month but still texts me everyday (except one night a couple weeks ago, during a trip with his close friends, he was drunk and texted me that he wanted me there with him... turned into some dirty talk on both of our ends but we left it at that and didn’t bring up sex again)

Another issue is that when texting each other, I’d feel like I’m the one carrying the conversation. I believe relationships can’t be built on texts alone and honestly I’d rather FaceTime or call. I asked him to call me once, he said he would, but ended up not doing so.

After the second date, I felt like he was kinda pulling away. We’re both going into finals (I’m finishing my bachelor’s). My whole thing is, I get that law school is super busy. I know that especially around this time of the year, there’s not always time to hang out. I already pointed it out once when I felt he was pulling away and he apologized and explained what was going on with school.

I’m not sure why, but at some point last week, I had enough. He was days away from starting his finals and our conversations were turning into small talk sporadically. I just haven’t responded to him at all and it’s been days.

Part of me feels bad “ghosting” just because I know he’s been super stressed school and finals, and maybe I shouldn’t take this personally. The other part of me feels like he’s really not interested (I’ve felt this way for a while, we’re also both still active on the dating site) so it’s better for me to just walk away instead of waiting for him to do so. What do you think I should do?

As in is open to dating anyone to get to know them as a potential boyfriend or girlfriend but is very strict with sex itself. So the dating is really about getting to know each other as people as potential boyfriend/boyfriend not seeking out sexual satisfaction.

this is not a biographical question... I’m just wondering why MANY people are against dating around like it’s dirty or indicative of low moral lack of loyalty increased risk of cheating etc, when really dating should give you a cushier to get acquainted

I wonder as well if casual dating people wpuid stay far away from those who are not on a date to sex pipe line.

And I Get it sex is a way for some people to get acquainted and that is fine but I’m guessing those people don’t feel sick about casual dating.

Seems to be high correlation with date around and fuck or date exclusively and wait camps... I wonder how often they can mix it up.


I think if I was single, I’d date around a ton lije 2950s style date a diff guy on a diff day bit the date is not code for hook up. It’s literally go out in a date. I kinda really LIKE the idea of like booking dates as appointments lol... 🧐 but then I am hyperactive am no good with ambiguity and I do best with structure 😌 so this may be more a personality thjng than sayjng approach. I’m thinking of sanity not landing the right bloke, per se 😇

I been bored & unhappy, I meet boyfriend only 1x or 2x month. He takes 2-3wks to meet, never meet weekly. I’m at point very lonley, I don’t feel excited meet, it got boring go on dates we don’t move foward, I don’t meet his family, I don’t hav holidays together, I don’t attend his family events, no errands together, I’m alone. I don’t want stupid dates forever what is the point? He never will live with me, I live in a studio & hell be forever with parents. No photos together nothing. He never visit me weekdays at night after work. I never felt so lonley in my life. I can’t talk freely to him as I’m just rejected. I don’t understand how 1 date a month is relationship when I see girls daily with boyfriend & spend all holidays events together. I don’t understand how girls even find guys like that , wouldn’t they get tired run away? To be 24/7 with girl? I don’t even get how people marry. 😓 I told him It’s boring meet 1x a month, I don’t want meet next week, after waiting so long whats the point, and he don’t reply back. It’s Mother’s Day Sunday why I can’t be with him Mother’s Day with our families together? 😓

Seen this guy for a while, we speak for hours every day on the phone, we have a connection like I’ve never had before, like a best friend but more.

Haven’t had sex yet because we wanted to wait, cause he was sexually coerced & abused by this girl who then made a false allegation against him when he eventually rejected & left her, he had sworn off sex for life until he met me. He’s currently waiting for results of the investigation which has put him in a depression and struggle with trust. But he told me I’m the best thing that’s ever happened to him, that I repaired him and brought him hope and trust back in people, that he’s grateful and so lucky to know me.

He was supposed to see me next week and was super excited, but today all of the sudden he cancelled because his mental health has hit rock bottom the past week & work is piling up, he said he knows if he sees me he’ll catch major feelings (which I think he already kind of has), and isn’t ready for a relationship and needs to see a therapist. He doesn’t want me to be his emotional crutch (he’s been really open about his feelings) and wants to man up and take his problems on himself and said it wasn’t fair on me to take on all his downs.

I asked if he needed a break and he said yes and that he’s going to take a break from social media to recharge and focus on himself and work. He said he’s really upset and wished circumstances were different and that he’s really gonna miss me. I told him I’d give him space and wait for him when he’s ready. I’m just worried he won’t contact me again because he doesn’t want to bother me. I don't know what to do cause I’ve caught feelings he’s such an amazing guy and I don’t want to lose what we have & can’t see myself with anyone else. He was just such a breath of fresh air from a series of failed dates and relationships, & felt like I found something truly real for once.

Do you think he’ll get back to me? Is it worth waiting for? How long should I wait before moving on?
