I have been seeing/hanging out with an old friend/ex. He told me if I ever started to develop feelings to tell him we needed to take a break. He says he's not ready for a relationship till he gets some things right with his baggage from an ex. Plus he told me he is not so concerned about his feelings as he is with hurting me.
Honestly I was good until I realized no matter how tough he acts he really cares about me. I mean sure he doesn't talk to me every day, but he does take care of me when I am sick. He supports me no matter what. And for my gift for the holidays he took time off from work (and worked doubles to make it happen) to clean my house since I never have time and he knows it bugs me. He also is not big on holding hands, but will since he knows I like it.
He also used to be a pretty big asshole and is intent on making it up to me for how he treated me in the past. I even told him it's going to take a while to trust him (he wishes I would) since I can forgive the past, but not forget it. He understands and is ok with me taking however long I need.
I should also mention that he spends most weekends at my house. Other than the loads of time we spend in bed, he likes the safe haven of my house from his annoying roommates and chill environment. Though sometimes I feel he thinks he needs to "pay" me back for staying the weekend.
When I asked about this earlier I was told he was manipulating me. I mean he could be, but it could also be other things as well. Anyone care to guess at what it could be?

Should I take my ex back after he left me in the first place for his ex? Or should I just leave it alone and stay single?
Well... My ex left me for his ex girlfriend and now he wants me back. Let me start by saying that I'm only 22 years old but I'm very mature and I am looking for very serious relationships, not casual dating. We dated for about 6 months but we've lnown one another for about four years (we were on the same college track team). The last month of us things got a little rough between us and but we decided wed work things out. Two days later he text me saying that he just wanted to be friends. Me being me I simply said okay but I feel like you're leavinf me for another girl. Come to find out he left me for his ex girlfriend. And the entire time we were dating he constantly claimed that he had unfinished business with her (whatever that means). I saw that it was over between us, and when I see that in a relationship just cut the guy of iut my life and move one. Well he came back two months later wanting to apologize and get back together. I forgave him but didn't want to be friends. But we kept talking after that and now we may be trying to work it out. I have a lot of self respect for myself so that's not an issue. But I have zero trust in him now and I want stability in my life. I also don't want to worry if he will leave me again.

I say almost, because we never really dated... we liked each other but then he met someone else and stopped talking to me so it was really awkward. It felt like he'd led me on. We recently had a good long talk and cleared things up and I've forgiven him, (he said he had to let me go to keep from hurting me, because he's cheated in the past and was trying to change) and now we want to try and be friends. He has a girlfriend, so it will be an interesting friendship, especially since we don't want to get too close or I might become a temptation/rekindle old feelings...

Would you be friends with him after that if you were in my shoes?

It hurts so bad to know that he lied to me. But I can't help but think of all the good times we had.

I want to be done with him emotionally. I don't see him at all I cut off all contact. But it hurts. I have forgiven him. I let it go. I can talk about it peacefully to others but when I am alone I just cry sometimes.

I Keep myself busy all the time. I am in school full time (even saturdays lol) I have a full time job I exercise.

I pray about it too. All the time. I just want to know what will be the next step.
