Now that 50 Shades of Grey is a movie, the attraction of dominance / submissive role playing is sort of being talked about. I really don't get this. Why is such a significant portion of women turned on by the thought -- and sometimes practice -- of being bound and dominated to such a degree? I can understand some aggressive bedroom behavior up to the point of spanking, but being physically restrained or blindfolded, I don't understand the appeal.

I'm truly not judging; it's just that for me that kind of thing is a gigantic turn-off, and I would like to understand why going that far has the opposite effect for others.
