I've been in a relationship for a year or so, but we broke up in July. But now he's actually trying and being a lot nicer. But still taking off a couple of nights a week, which is why we broke up. He's very secretive about where he goes. He says he's not sleeping with anyone and won't get back together. l've considered dating, but l don't know if l should hold out or not. If l date, and we get back together, it can make things more complicated. But l don't know if he'll ever come around.

So, some context. My boyfriend and I were together for almost 3 years. We moved to another state together, and we had been living together for the last year. There were a lot of things coming in between our relationship, like how we were living with my mom (awk, I know, things were complicated and we couldn't afford to live on our own yet), we didn't have the same days off so we hardly saw each other, etc. It got to the point where he only wanted me around for sex in exchange for him doing things for me like cooking dinner or driving me to work which was down the street. It didn't feel like we were a couple anymore.

About a month ago, my coworker was worried about my well-being and expressed how he always thought I was pretty and how he wanted the best for me, and it was nice hearing that from somebody at the time. I ended up inviting him over to the house while my boyfriend was at work and we did sexual things. My boyfriend ended up finding out what happened after looking through my phone and I was trying to explain why I felt the need to do that, but he wasn't believing me. I broke his trust. I owned up to what I did but he was too hurt and has been hurting ever since and it kills me. I've started therapy and got an STD test which came back negative, and I'm working on myself to become a better person, but I feel like it's too late since he already closed his heart off to me.

TLDR: I cheated with my boyfriend of 3 years and he doesn't trust me and doesn't want to take me back. I'm having trouble moving on because he was my everything.

What should I do? Should I keep trying to fix our relationship? How can I prove to him that I've changed and I won't ever do what I did to him again after going through the pain of losing him? How can I get him to trust me again? If you've been cheated on, did you work things out with your partner? I still feel like a shitty human being, but I'm trying to fix what I did wrong.. any help or advice would be appreciated. :(

This guy and I have feelings for each other but he is in a complicated relationship and he turned me down even though he didn’t want to. He still keeps showing interest and gets jealous of other guys. Recently I’ve noticed that whenever I’m talking to one of our common male friend who recently became single, this guy comes around. Either he will walk by us or he will suddenly get up and stand around. I always look at him when he does this. I’m wondering why he is doing this. Please advise.

My boyfriend and I have been having serious problems. We’ve gone through a lot, and a lot of shite has happened. I’m horrible at communicating and it’s taken me a long time to realize this.. to accept this fact about me. My boyfriend is so in touch with his feelings—he has told me that he used to be able to “read my mind” and honestly he probably did... it was the only time I really talked. Then his dad died... they had a super complicated relationship and I knew I should have been strong for him but I wasn’t. I’m not it happened 6 months ago. We’ve continued to have problems. Then about a month (3 weeks?) he crossed a line. He said I invaded his space, but he came at me. His hand around my throat just for a second or less. I don’t remember I just remember the look in his eyes and I thought he could kill me if he wanted to. We’ve tried to work on it... work on our problems before but it always comes back to the choking and I ask myself can I trust him? I don’t think he will ever do it again... but I don’t know for certain. What if I get in his space again? His dad was emotionally abusive to him—what if he does something to our future kids.

I kind of broke up with him last night, but we stayed and talked and he was downright sarcastic and mean and I just let him say everything. He is my first boyfriend. He told me I was bailing, that I wasn’t trying to work anything out, that I was weak... that I was all these hurtful things. Then I don’t know what happened. We decided a decision could not be made until the next morning and then it’s come to tonight. I keep asking myself—what to do? I know it is my decision but I have no idea where to start.
