First, I’ll describe the parties involved. Person A is a 5’5, 170lb man. He’s in his mid 50s and an alcoholic. Person B is his daughter. She’s 5’1 and 88lbs. She’s 20 and has a temper. Person A owns the one-bedroom apartment, but allows Person B to stay there and sleep on the couch. Person B has nowhere else to go because her mother has a worse mental illness and her friends went to college far away. She is a full-time college student and has a paid internship, but it’s not enough for her to support herself financially. When Person A gets angry, he threatens to kill Person B’s cat, calls her offensive names, calls her crazy, and threatens to end financial support. When Person B gets angry, she calls Person A offensive names, calls him an alcoholic, blames their family falling apart on him, slams doors, pours his beers down the drain, and tosses objects like magazines and perfume, contact lens solution, and plastic cups.

Person A, who is intoxicated, is standing on the other side of the kitchen while Person B tries to talk to him and asks him to resolve their issues. He doesn’t want to talk and tells her to resolve her own issues to end their problems. Angry, Person B throws her deodorant across the room at him. Person A jumps to the phone and calls the cops. Person B attempts to grab the phone from his hands saying that she wants to make a phone call too. While Person B is tugging at the phone, Person A knocks her to the ground, pins her with his knees, and tries to loosen her grip. She is facing the ceiling and yells for him to stop and to get off of her. She yells for help while he repeatedly slams her into the ground and hits her in the face. This goes on for two minutes. She bites him deep enough to make him bleed and scratches his face. Person A finally gets the phone and gets off of her. He runs out of the door. Person B tries to do the same and run to a neighbor, but Person A holds the other end of the door so she can’t escape.
