Search Results: when to discuss marriage

I love my boyfriend an incredible amount and I honestly feel like he's the guy I will be with for the rest of my life. I have no problems talking about children and marriage with him and when I do, I always say that its not something i'm ready for right now but that its something that i really believe is likely for us in the future. He doesn't really make comments about it, he usually just smiles and says its a possibility. I'm ok with this because I tell him to show him how sure i am of him and how much i love him. I don't need him to say it back. Recently though, I found out that he actually doesn't like it and doesn't want to think about the future to that degree. we got into a huge fight about it and I told him I won't discuss my feelings like that anymore then. I want to respect his wishes and not make him uncomfortable, but its really hard to hide how i feel and pretend its not on my mind.

we've been through a lot and have a really developed and mature relationship. We are always incredibly honest with each other so I don't see how talking about the future should be a problem. I feel like lately he hasn't been listening to my feelings or caring about what i say. He's currently in another country and i send him long emails about how much i miss him and love him and he sends back short emails just quickly telling me about his day and not even mentioning anything I try to talk about.

How do I handle this?
