Search Results: confidence or insecurity

My girlfriend grew up in another state and a guy who she says is the love of her life still lives there, they are both divorced and can't be together because of divorce movement restrictions on the kids. She says there lifelong friends and there can't be anything else but yet they still try to get together to see each other and end up having sex when they do, she hasn't seen him since last summer and now we are in a relationship and she says she loves me. About once or twice a month he will call her or she calls him, and this June their high school is having a reunion, she wants to go and tells me that all the girls are planning on getting together and catching up ( girl talk and stuff) and that none of them are bringing their significant other, so she want to go by herself.

I really want to be confident enough to say go have a good time, but knowing that its a setting where they are having a dance and alcohol along with the so called "love of her life" I feel it's like relationship suicide. I told her it bothered me and now I get this " I'll sacrifice for your insecurities and not go" but I know that the resentment she will carry will always be there too. I made the comment that it would be easy if it were a family thing in hopes she would ask me to go but she didn't, she just says she won't go. I can't believe she would rather not go that to bring me along, I know at every reunion I've seen the spouse or other tagged along. Her attitude just reinforces my belief that I may have foiled some plans or opportunity per say!

Am I wrong to feel the way I do? Should I just suck it up and display a heavier dose of confidence? Or is this a girls way of twisting things around to make the guy feel like an ass?
