I'm 23. Should be getting my Bachelors degree in Psychology next semester. I'm work part time as a receptionist/cashier while in school. Currently seeking an entry level job in my field before I graduate. I don't have many friends. Actually any at all lol. I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and take medicine. However, I doubt my illness. I feel it is all in my head. Others don't understand why I doubt it though. I have a car. I've never had a boyfriend. Every guy that has even shown interest in me was either not my type or things ended up fizzling out. I don't think I'm beautiful. People say I'm pretty however I always see myself as fat and unattractive, while others tend to not see me that way.

I was bullied as child and recently in the work place, even though I don't understand why I've had to encounter such negative and mean people in my life, when I'm a very reserved and down to earth individual. Other than that and my parents divorce, the two most traumatic things that have happened to me include a car accident last year and having my gallbladder surgically removed. I always feel as if my life sucks and I'm doomed for bad fortune. I always overthink everything, it seems uncontrollable regardless of any self help I attempt to seek out.

Is my life as terrible as I make it out to be or is it my anxiety that makes it worse than it seems?

As in, do you believe they are an actual chemical imbalance in the brain or are they simply a reaction to trauma in life?

Long story, my boyfriend and I have been together 8 months. We don’t exist in perfect harmony at all, and we’ve had more than our fair share of problems that weren’t our fault, but caused by outside circumstances, (our families, my mental illness, etc.)
Anyways, this past month or so, my boyfriend has been showing signs of bipolar disorder. He’s been very up and down. One minute he thinks he’s going to be successful and the next he’s down in the dumps for days on end about how he’ll never get anywhere. If I ask him a question he gets agitated easily, and he’s been overusing weed and alcohol.
a week ago he went back to his hometown and asked me for some space because he hadn’t seen his friends in a year and just wanted to focus on them for a few days. I’m all for that, except with anxiety, that’s really difficult. So by Monday, he said that I annoyed him too much and that he was finally done, blocked me on most of social media and didn’t talk to me. I’ve been giving him space, and then two days later he sent me a song that said “he loves me but he needs to stop hurting me and let me move on”
i decided the other day to go out with my GAY friend my boyfriend has met many times before and I posted it on every social media account I had because I’m an extra person and I had to. And my boyfriend got angry simply because he was male, and blocked my remaining accounts.
im just very confused because right before he left to go home he was talking about our future together and the way we would start a family... how can someone lie about that? And how Can I fix this?

I'm 23. I've never had a boyfriend. I used to get complimented by guys rarely in high school. Didn't get asked out until I was a senior. Once in a while would a guy somewhat flirt with me in person or ask me out. Since they're being so forward in the street, I usually choose to not pursue anything. Bit of anxiety in that type of scenario. I've tried online dating. I have gotten a lot of messages every time I made an account (what girl doesn't). I've been on a few dates that usually go no where and if they do, it usually fizzles out or I just lose interest. I feel like I'm this hideous monster. I've lost a decent amount of weight. People have told me, strangers/family/friends that I'm pretty. I am just negative and have low self esteem from the shit I've encountered in my life. Plus having an anxiety disorder doesn't help the situation. Personally, I think my face is plain.

Yet, I've seen women constantly being hit on and asked out on dates. They're usually never without a partner or potential suitor.

I'll begin with my background history. First off, I am a psych major, not attempting to come across as hypocritical lol. Secondly, I was diagnosed around 2 years ago with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and a minor form of PTSD. The psychiatrist prescribed Prozac and Klonopin at the time. Shortly after with a bit of "relief" and unstable moods, he prescribed Abilify. I was gaining weight before the consumption of Abilify and this sort of triggered the process. It caused me to crave foods high in sugar and carbs. At the moment, I only take.5 mg of Klonopin. And it doesn't help like it used to. I've been to mental health counselors and Psychologists. I see my Psychiatrist every three months. And I see improvement. But not as I expected. I don't know if it is due to my life being less drama filled or the actual medicine improving my brain chemistry. What are your experiences and opinions?
