My husband and I have been married for two months. I cheated on him about 2 years ago in the early days, and after we talked and I tried leaving him because I knew he never really would forgive me, we decided to stay together and work through it, and he surprised me with a marriage proposal this past summer. We had talked about it, but I didn't know if he was ready. Well, 2 months later almost every time we drink and party and hang out, he constantly brings up divorce and says he's unhappy and depressed, and doesn't really work on our relationship. I've done everything I can to show him I want to build trust and that it's never going to happen again, but I feel it's not working. He will say he loves me and say he wants to be with me forever, and I understand this doesn't go away in a day but he's also running my emotions all over the place. He has agreed to go to counseling, and I hope it helps. Some of the issues behind my actions were because of things he was doing and the majority was just selfishness and emotional shut down on my end.

I’ve been with my boyfriend for almost 2 years now, and I do really love him a lot. We have our arguments but I feel safe with him.

The problem is, I have an intense crush on my coworker. I can’t stop thinking about him. He’s the first thing I think of when I wake up and I look forward to seeing him at work. We don’t talk at all, and hardly know each other outside of cordialities here and there...

We just stare at each other. I can’t seem to stop, even though I know I shouldn’t. I just always find myself looking at him and he looks back. It’s really intense, like we’re having a conversation with our eyes. We both know it’s going on too, which makes rare occasions when we’re making small talk kind of awkward (feels like sexual tension).

I’m having trouble figuring out if this is emotional cheating, because we don’t talk at all. I haven’t disclosed anything to him, I don’t tell him secrets. But the staring thing... and the fact that he occupies like 80% of my thoughts every day..

A study regarding cheating partners revealed that men were more likely to forgive their partners if they fell in love with another, but will find it hard to forgive them for having sex with someone else.

Whereas women were more likely to forgive their partners if they had sex with someone else, but less likely to forgive them for falling in love.

I realise that this is a huge generalisation over one study.

But popular belief (again huge generalisation) is that men can detach sex from emotions, so why are they less likely to forgive sex, if some men see sex as just that, sex?

And women, IN GENERAL, are seen to be more affectionate and emotional, so the study results are consensus to the female stereotype, as they are less likely to forgive their partner for falling in love with another person.
