I am born and raised in the USA in southern California.

I had an interesting conversation this morning that sparked me to ask this question.

I have noticed that my mind is a very complicated and analytical place to be, and I admit that I can make just about any topic into a deep conversation (thank college for that lol).

When I tend to explain various things, I tend to (unintentionally) go over ppl's heads when I explain something.

I speak slowly (I can talk fast sometimes when I'm passionate lol), I go step-by-step in a logical fashion ("connect-the-dots") to explain the topic...but a lot of people STILL can't follow.

It's quite frustrating, and as bad as it sounds, I feel like that my brain MUST function on a much higher octane than the average person in this country.

So many people seem to fall for flashy shallow things (attractive people in advertising, trends, "flair", etc) here in this nation, and the ideas of SUBSTANCE and QUALITY tends to fall to the wayside.

I hear people speak and their conversations would bore me to death because they're so...basic, so un-challenging, so mentally un-stimulating, so shallow, and ultimately lacking any depth at all.

In essence, pretty much talking "just to avoid silence".

Maybe it's just my imagination.

Maybe you think I'm some intellectual-bullying arrogant a**hole (some people on this site I know already think that about me).

But seriously...imo the USA is falling behind the rest of the world because here, people are more simple-minded, and go more for style and flair and popularity than actual value in just about everything, from electronics, to fashion, and don't get me started on our entertainment industry (especially music).

So, I ask you; do you think the USA's population on average is "dumber" than the rest of the world?

I haven't traveled outside the USA so I don't have that perspective, so that's why I'm asking this question.
