My “ex” wrote a whole paragraph saying that he was really sorry that he never meant to hurt me, that he was not begging for my forgiveness, and I asked him how college was going he said good and how was my senior year I said good etc. And then I blocked him afterwards because to be honest I’m upset of how he hurt me, treated me, and because he took me like a joke. And i also am aware that I need to forget about him because he is gone now and I probably won’t see him again. He also has a new girlfriend by the way so he doesn’t like me he just wanted to say sorry.

I am very submissive -- less so now than I once was, but I only started trying to figure out why that was when I met my first love, a guy who asked probing questions about my childhood. Our house used to have bars on the door and windows and my dad would lock us in the house every day for our own safety before leaving for work. His word was the law in the house and we were rewarded with these candy pieces anytime we did something he liked and spanked with his shoe if we did something bad. I remember if I ever acted disgruntled or said I didn't feel like doing something, he considered that disrespectful and would then yell and completely ignore me sometimes for weeks until I asked for his forgiveness. We were not allowed to do anything without his permission even when we went to college. Our tv, books, and internet used to all be restricted or controlled and we were never allowed to sit in a sex ed class. When he would help me with hw as a kid, he would spank me until I got the answers or concepts right. I dont consider any of this bad and think he is a good dad, but my ex would tell me that this was a form of abuse and may be why I am submissive. What do you think? Abuse or just discipline?
