Either for money or for a friend? I mean, you give birth to the baby but you're not the parent of it, you just get it taken away. In Turkey, even if gay marriage was legal you couldn't do that because the law says the relation between the mother and baby is created by birth and she has the parental rights.

Pro? Con? I personally am pro I don't understand why it is such a big deal I'm currently righting a reaserch paper on this topic and it digust me to hear why people think homosexuality nod bad. For instance a girl in my class less than five mins ago was talking about it and how it is wrong God on, y wants a man and women to get married not man and man and how her mom walked up and said " yeah that's what my mom always said that's why God made Adam and eve not Adams and Steve " then they laughed together and said that was really funny... Hun they is no where in the bible that talks about homosexuality. You don't have to marry the same sex you don't even have to like it, but don't judge someone you never met. I have so much more to say but I can't say it all.

I had a friend in class agree with everyone else that Gay marriage is okay and etc... I didn't agree. We had a debate and towards the end I pretty much changed everyones mind in the class about gay marriage. Are you pressured to not speak your mind because of society? Just curious how many people just don't say anything or just go with the flow because they don't want to argue.

in my opinion, yes. The goverment fears those who marry for tax purposes. Think about it, I make $54,000 a year, $7800 of that is deducted for federal taxes, I'm single and I do not have children. So, by February when I file for income tax I may only receive $900 back.

Whereas a married coworker with dependents only have $3300 deducted & their income tax return will be well in the thousands. Single with 3 kids and filing head of household $3100 deducted and she could expect a $10,000+ income tax refund.

So compare that to single childless gays who make $60,000-120,000 a year, that would be a lot of money lost.

Not too mention all the benefits they will be entitled to after marriage. Just one example, the insurance market will drop, because more would be allowed to be on their spouses & not have to purchase their own.

An example of marrying for tax purposes can be seen in the movie "RocknRolla", Thandie Newton's character is a high earning accountant & she is married to a powerful high earning gay lawyer and labels it her "marriage of covenience."

Let's face it everyone has someone in their life who's gay & we still love them the same. The situation is bigger than that, & the goverment fears people will begin to marry for tax purposes & if they do how will it hurt or help the country/economy.
