In high school I was bullied BIG TIME. People were jealous that I was a good student and rich. They would close there eyes every time I would come into the classroom and called me ugly (wich is not true, I was and AM the prettiest girl in the group), they would close up there noses yelling: "Arrghh she stinks", wich was also a false statement, they always used lies, because there was no way they could've offended me with the truth. They used to make up rumours about me.

It's been a couple of years and I am pretty successful in what I do. I have a decent (ok, GREAT) amount of money and I am the "cool kid" now, I haven't changed in ANY way, I stayed exactly the same. The only thing that has changed was THEIR perception of me.

I live in a city and I am coming back to town where I used to live. It's been years since I came there. They want to take me to a restaurant and a club, to "treat me", but all they really wanna do is to get the juicy details of my life. They want a gossip topic. I am afraid that if I do go out with them, they will toss me away and they will have the last word. I think that I am the one that should have the last word, because I owe it to my 15 year old self = I should just ignore them and show them "their place".
On the other hand, if I do go out with them, I can say how my life is GREAT (wich wouldn't be lying), and I will make them unhappy and jealous, yet, I have nothing to lose.

What should I do? Please tell me what you think.

For instance I've known 3 cases where trust has been regain and both parties seemed to be getting along better than before and neither of them ever brings up the subject of the betrayal (basically it ended in a forgive and forget):

- Case 1: A girl at my former HS finds out her best friend was spreading gossips about her and talking lots of nasty things behind her back (such as lying about her being a slut and sleeping around, etc). After finding out, both get into a physical fight and expressed their hate towards each at that moment. Then after some time, things are worked out, both say their sorries and they are back to being good friends again.

- Case 2: My mother shared her credit card with her sister-in-law Nirma (my political aunt) and they've always gotten along great. Nirma needed to purchase some furniture and promised that she would pay it all back. Needlessly to say, she never paid it back after the deadline and ruined my mother's credit report. They didn't speak to each other for about 5 years. It's only been recently this year that they got back reconnected (mom forgave and is no longer upset with her) and went back to being friends like old times.

- Case 3: A younger brother (who was 19 at the time) has a short-lived affair with his old brother's fiancee. All hell breaks loose once it's discovered. Within 3-4 years later they start talking to each other again, the older brother accepts his apology, the subject is no longer mentioned and apparently they understand each other more.

I won't say gossip to be honest.
But yesterday my guy friend told me that he tells everyone about his crush and all.

i don't do that. I only tell my best friend and close friends about that. He also told me that guys Men spend more time gossiping than women.
