So there's a guy in my neighborhood who is handsome, well-off, and just always really nice to me, my kids, my mom. He runs a shop and is always giving my mom a discount, for example, "because you're her mom". After the last favor he did, I brought him a lovely peach from the farmer's market and left it for him with my business card, where I had written a quick "Thank You!" and left it for him. Apparently he made a big deal out of it. For me it was really just a small gesture to thank him. Very old school, but that's how I am.

He's asked me before if I was married (looking me up and down) and I had told him I was divorced. Small chit chat about it, asking me if I'm dating. I shrugged. "For what? I have a job. I can stand on my own two feet, and guys are nothing but trouble. Even nice guys. (*Smile)" We both laughed it off.

That was over the summer. One of his co-workers encouraged me to see him about something. The guy was there while I was chatting with the coworker, who wanted me to come on a Sunday. "I don't know. I have church, but I can try in the afternoon, if that's okay?" I was penciled in.

The next day I came in and there he was, looking all sexy, but he wasn't working. "Sweetie, I don't work on Sundays." (So what was he doing there?) "Can you come tomorrow?"

I sighed. "What time?" We had to haggle a little over the time since I had work. He agreed, "I can come in early for you (*Smile)." The following day I came in at the designated time and he wasn't there yet. I shrugged it off. One of the ladies asked me to stay, hang out and wait for him. I said I'd be around, running a few errands, and come back at his regular starting hour. He had apparently missed me by a few minutes.

Anyway, when I finally did meet up with him, we joked and chatted a bit. He had a lot of questions for me, though, about my marital status... Was I separated or divorced? How old are my kids now? Do they see their dad often? Was he from the same religion and nationality as us? At one point while we were talking he brushed the hair out of my eyes. I felt a little nervous when he did that -- not so much about the full disclosure. At the end of his questioning I told him I felt old...and silly. "Don't say that. You're perfect, sweetie." Later on, he thanked me for the peach I'd left for him back a few weeks ago.

To me, these are either mixed signals OR he's just being nice. I'm not sure which...
