My "friend" told my crush I liked him and I was planning on asking him to the Sadie Hawkins dance.. My crushes brother then went on IG live and was like telling everyone I was gunna ask him which was pretty douchy. He shut his brother down and called this "friend" again and said he has a game that day and wasn't interested in the dance in general so he was going to have to say no and didn't want to have to embarrass me when he did. I then text him after all of that and say I wasn't going to ask in the first place, which is true because I already had a date since the beginning. I told him my friend got me and another girl confused which was sorta true. He texted bad saying "hahahaha it's all good no worries." Now he's avoiding me but keeps watching me in class... He also told a bunch of his friends and my friend over heard him saying that class is "awkward now."

So some questions:
does he still believe the friend that I like him even when I cleared everything up with him?
why do you think he is avoiding me?
why did he tell a bunch of his friends? (he acted weird with me at the beginning of the year- he kept looking at me, saying hey, and whispering to his friends)

This guy and I have been ballroom dancing together all college semester. We spent time just the two of us during the weekends twice. The first time, we went shopping, I went to his place, we watched a movie during which he put his arm around me, we had lunch, and he cooked us dinner. Second time, after going to karaoke and dinner with friends, I slept over at his apt. We slept together in his bed and cuddled up - just slept. The following dance class, my best friend (male) - who knows how I feel about the guy - and I were whispering and laughing, and the guy i like was watching us. I think he thought i was flirting with my best friend because i have a naturally flirty personality. Other things... The guy I like would call me over to his apt or workplace several times, but it was always a bad time and i kept saying i couldn't - it wasn't because I didn't want to, it was just always either when I had class or late at night on the weekdays when I normally don't go out. Lately, he's been distant and clearly has lost interest. He never snapchats me anymore even though he used to often. Last night, our crew went to a Tango event and I danced with him. He told me I looked "amazing" in my red dress, but that was it. He left early. I know I messed up, but I didn't mean to. I like him so much and I am so heartbroken right now.

I'm going overseas for the Christmas break tomorrow, and I'm debating whether or not to confirm where we stand/stood before over the phone from the airport. Do I still stand a chance? We'll be dancing together again next semester.
