Search Results: work hard for our money

I followed everything which was "best" for me since I was young. I studied hard since I was old enough to start school. I always got good grades. I was always proactive, playing different sports, representative for my university department, active member in societies. I graduated from one the top leading Universities in the world, with a business related degree. I have experience within corporate companies to NGOs etc.

I did everything that I could which people told me was necessary for this "great" life that was at the end. But now I'm facing work life. It isn't great. I haven't found anything I like. I have the qualifications to get into a big company that would pay me a large sum... But to spend most of my life there..- that money is just not enough.

I feel the way many of us have been brought up, we've been cheated on. I live in London, you work hard but trapped in a overtime culture, waking at 7am, arrive at work 8:45am, work until 10pm. That's the "dream" job that pays for all you want (which you never have time to enjoy)! Come back to your small flat, which is extremely over priced... Just to quickly eat and wake up to do the same.

I've got a great bunch of friends and the "ideal" boyfriend. We both excelled throughout our lives, but in the same situation.. He's working at a big international firm and hating the job "the great path led"...

I wish we lived in a world where anyone can experience anything they wanted without money involved. That it didn't seem so risky, where you felt it is okay to do whatever you love right now... not when you book your annual leave. I feel like I can only live like that when I retire. I can't chuck everything I worked for and start with nothing. Conflicted.

I feel like living someone else's dream.. not my own.. since I was born. Doing what society wants.

I'm curious about what you think. Are you doing exactly what you want to do in life? How so? If not, is it because of a similar reason?
