The family I’m about to describe is very dysfunctional. I’d rather not go into the details about how I’m involved because this situation is embarrassing (even online). I already tried typing this, and thought it was confusing, so I’m simplifying it by referring to everyone involved with letters. I’d rather not mention names.

H – ex-girlfriend of A

A began dating H in 2009. In March 2011, H found out she was pregnant, and A assumed he was the father because, at the time, he had no reason to expect otherwise. When they announced the pregnancy to A’s family, B told C in privacy that it’s possible that he may be the father. He admitted that he and H slept together once in January. C told E, F, and G, and they all insisted that B and H do a paternity test. The results came back indicating that B was the father, but the family agreed to keep it a secret because it was not their place, B would never be a good father, and A’s relationship with B and H would be destroyed if he ever found out the truth.

In May, A and H found out H was pregnant with twins. When A told his family the news, they gossiped more and the gossip accidentally reached D in June. They were trying to keep the secret from D because A and D are close, and they didn’t expect him to go along with their secret. When D found out that B was the father, he told A. A confronted H and B, swore off the entire family (except D), and officially ended his relationship with H. The babies (a girl and a boy) were born in September and are now about 2.5 years old.

The newest problem is that the babies are the spitting image of A, even though H claims that the paternity test revealed B is the father. I have doubts about whether B is truly the father for several reasons:

1. H is a pathological liar. What if she’s lying about the test too?
