I work behind a bar and there’s this customer who comes into work every now and again. Here’s just a very general summary of the situation so far:
a few months ago, we would kind of catch each other’s glances and smile/ giggle but we wouldn't really talk 😂 Eventually when he was really drunk one night he asked for my number and said how attractive I was etc. The following week that’s when he messaged me but the conversation more or less ended as soon as I left it so that he had to make more conversation. Anyway, I’m a bit shy and I got into my head that i had put him off because he wasn’t flirting with me so I pretty much ignored him/ didn’t look at him because I felt awkward.

BUT THEN, the last few weeks he’s commented, making conversation publicly on posts I share on social media regarding animal welfare (it’s something I’m passionate about and seem to have in common with him). This made me feel more confident with talking to him again so I’ve been plucking up the courage to talk to him in person.

The other day, after he had a few drinks, after I had served him he waited to talk to me and asked me about my shifts and we made general conversation. Then last night, to bring it up to date* 😂 whilst I was working he messaged me from across the bar but I didn’t see it until I had went home. Like last time, there was some very tame flirting but as soon as I gave him a reply he couldn’t easily respond to he let the chat die 😂
is he shy or just not that into me?
Just some details about me and him- he does seem shy and quiet, he always has a drink with his dad and I don’t see him with many or any friends on social media. He seems reserved in that sense. He doesn’t seem like many guys my age at all which is what draws me to him.

I work with this guy that I’ve been interested in for about 2 years now, between dating other people for brief times. Not sure why, but I’ve thought he was beautiful from the first moment I saw him (I still remember that moment very well). I noticed he also stares at me a lot and seems interested in me, even though he had a girlfriend for a year and a half when first met. But even when he was with her, he always seemed to be observing me as though I was fascinating to him. When we were all at the Christmas party, he was staring at me even though his girlfriend was right there. They broke up shortly after.

Anyways, I’m really shy. So I feel like I’ve messed up every conversation we’ve had, because when we talk I don’t feel like I’m really being myself. For a while, it seemed like he was trying to make an effort to talk to me, because he was coming up to my desk everyday and saying hi, but he stopped because the conversations felt stilted and awkward. The annoying thing is, I’ve dated other men but for some reason I just completely clam up around this one. I think part of the problem is he’s so attractive that I really feel like he wouldn’t date someone like me, because I’m really average and his girlfriends have all been as attractive as he is.

But even though he stopped talking to me, he still stares at me and I’ve seen him crane his neck around my computer screen as though he’s just checking if I’m there,

since it’s been 2 years, I’ve decided he must either be in love with me or think I’m weird. Which do you think it is?

You always here about people's big romantic stories or how they clicked straight away.

I was totally the oppsite while I was very attracted to my boyfriend I really didn't like him or thing we clicked romantically after the first date. Took at least 3 dates to make me realise he was sweet and just very awkward. Now he is the most amazing person I've ever met and I'm glad I gave us a chance. But it gets me wondering do you think people give up to easily. If the first date went bad would you go on another one?
