OK, I'm like really shy and closed off though I put on an act of being confident and constantly have on my "I don't give a f***" face. Also, my views and interest differ highly from everyone else's this being another reason I keep myself from others.

In the halls walking to classes I've seen this guy that I find attractive in my sense of the word. That at the moment is basically curly dark brown hair and hazel/brown eyes along with lightly tanned skin with piercings and ear gauges. Yeah, not your usually physical definition of the term. Haven't really done anything about him except think he was the dorky kind of cute. I guessed he was either sixteen, my age, or seventeen.

Well, today after being wrongly accused of talking in class even though I only said one word along with being verbally attacked by a substitute teacher I was sent to IS/ISS, in school suspension. When I sat down I realized the guy next to me was him. Unfortunately, my nerves were to fried from what occurred before to do anything other then turn my body away from his and resume reading my book of the week. But, I noticed the book he was working in was world history which is a Freshman class so he might actually be 14/15.

Next period I was talking to my friend Emily who was in the class I got kicked out of. After, informing me of the sub that wouldn't shut up about me I jokingly told her, "At least he got me put next to a hot guy in IS." I told her it was sad I was too shy and angry to even ask his name. She told me I should of put 'Hey you're cute. What's your name. ; D' on a piece of paper and gave it to him. I replied, "He might be weirded out and think. Why is this chick giving me this." She slapped my hand and said "Or, he would be like 'Wow. She is fine!'." Draw out the I in fine for five beats. Then, we went on to her relationship woes.

I think next time I see him I'm just going to go for it. Any advice?

Situation first, then question.

Situation: I'm in a really good relationship with my boyfriend. We have similar convictions, great conversation, want the same things out of a relationship, the list goes on and on...

The only thing that we have an issue with is in the romance/affection department. I come from a very loving and 'touchy-feely' family and he comes from a family that wasn't really into the whole affection scene. As a result, he expresses his love by doing thoughtful, practical things instead of romantic.

I know he loves me, and I'm very much in love with him but I feel a little romance starved. We've talked about it, and for a few days things will be different but it always slips back to the default.

Question: Am I disappointed in his inability to express love to me the way I want it expressed, or am I setting myself up for disappointment by wanting him to love me the way I want to be loved instead of how he wants to love me? In other words, is it fair to want him to change or am I closing the door on true love because he's not expressing love the way I had in mind?

Yes? No? What do you think I should do and how do you perceive this situation on a broad scale? Meaning, does this situation reflect a common theme of woman reading into the cliche' of romantic relationships only to find that the real world is reading from a difference book?
