I've asked this before, but maybe some new answers would be good.

I was diagnosed many years ago with a cancerous brain tumor, and I have gone through a couple of treatments over the past 8 years and things are stable now. I lost a lot of my vision from radiation therapy, but I am able to do most things aside from working in close proximity of people walking around in the workplace or driving a car.

I've been single for several years, and officially dating for a few months about 9 years ago when I was in my senior year of high school. Soon I will be 27, and most of my friends are in a long-time committed relationship living together. I'm not the hottest guy out there, but I am attractive enough for most anyone. My personality might be a little quirky, but I doubt that's the reason I've been single for so long.

I am just wondering if there's any possible chance at my age, and my medical condition if there's a remote chance of anyone finding me desirable enough to be together for a long time. I can't even remember the last time I've felt any romantic affection with someone, and I'm quite hopeless it will ever happen.

Years ago, I tried the online dating thing with some success. But after we got together a few times and they found about me having cancer, even though it's under control, they leave me because they are scared they would lose me in the future and would rather cut it off before any strong feelings started. They were pretty young obviously, but over the past 3 years there has only been a couple meaningless hookups with me pretty much giving in to their need for a fix. I kind of wish it never happened, but I'm just so desperate it's killing me.

So does anyone think it's even possible for anyone to want to spend a long time with someone that has issues like that, or should I just accept the fact I could possibly spend the remainder of my life which would likely be a bit shorter than a perfectly healthy person?

I'll start with a short version of this question for those who don't want all the details, and I'll fill in the details at the bottom in (___) for those who actually do want to read all that. What would you guys do in this situation?

Short version:
So I've gotten to know this girl over the course of a month and when I recently asked her out, she accepted enthusiastically and gave me her phone number... BUT, she proceeded to give me this warning and I quote:

"as long as you're cool with the fact that I'm working things out with my ex-boyfriend--it's complicated".

Is she pretty much telling me she isn't interested in me and I'll never have a chance with her? If so, why would she give me her phone number then? Should I continue pursuing her or would this just be a waste of both our time?
Ladies, have you done this to any guys?

(Here's the long version/ details to put things in context:
I had gotten to know this girl fairly well over the course of a month; I didn't just ask her out all of a sudden outta the blue. I made sure I got all the positive signs that she liked me / was interested in me first; the smiles from across the room, the flirty hugs, the fact that she would go out of her way to come over and say "hi" often and try to start a conversation, etc.
I was finding myself increasingly attracted to her the more we talked and got to know each other as share a lot of similar opinions, interests and hobbies.
I was starting to noticing all her great qualities I felt would make her an amazing girlfriend. And I honestly felt that she wanted me to ask her out.
Anyways, before asking her out I wanted to make sure she was was available and she had said that she recently broken up with a boyfriend. So I thought okay, she doesn't seem too emotional about it, so I'll ask her out for a casual lunch to start things off and to might delight, she accepted and seemed excited about it... until she dropped the EX-BOMB. My immediated thought was just WTF.

This summer I met this girl and we really hit it off so we started talking, we talked all summer and then I went to boarding school and came back for winter break. When I Came back we started talking again. This time I realized she was flirting like really badly. So I asked her if she liked me and she said yes. Now this girl is 4 years older then me and she goes to college. I told her I liked her about a week ago. Yesterday I finally told her my age and I told her I was feeling sad cause I was finding it hard to believe that she really liked me. She is quite pretty and she told me that she has mor friends that are boys than she does girls. So I mean what would a college girl see in a high school guy right? So when I told her how I felt she just said that she feels things are getting complicated and we were better when we were just friends. I think she is realizing she made a mistake liking a 15 year old but I'm not sure so I'm so confused. Can someone please help me!
