I've had a friend for about 4 years. He's an amazing, sweet guy and ever since I first met him I've had a crush on him. I love him now, as a friend but I'm not sure if I should try to make more of it. Most of the time we've been friends I've been in relationships and he's the type of guy to have respect for someone who is in a relationship and not mess with it. We hang out almost everyday. He's always getting doors for me, getting me food if I'm hungry, making sure I'm taken care of and not cold, but I'm not sure if its just because he has respect for girls.. and friends. All of our friends are mutual, we hang around the same people.
sometimes it's hard for me to imagine me being more because of the friendship we have. Ex. I'm not sure If I could see us having sex or holding hands around our friends.

He's really the only person I hang out with and I'd be afraid of loosing him if the feeling wasn't mutual or if it ended badly.. he understands me, toan extent that I ddidn't know he did. He knows I'm shy and will go out of his way to make sure I'm not in an awkward situation..

If you think I should try to be more, please elaborate on how I should do so.

after a grueling week of doing everything wrong like begging & crying for him back which led to him being really angry at me for continuously calling & him asking to be left alone... my ex invited me to sleep over for a weekend (i know its weird.. the flip flop was shocking to me)& i agreed, we finally met up... i assume it was cause he wanted to have sex even though he had called me crazy for a week straight. We had a "closure session"... prior to this i hadn't been able to go a day without calling & texting till he answered, after the weekend i was finally able to go full NC. we cried together and said we could be friends eventually. He broke up with me & knows i want to be with him... he says not a chance in hell due to my insecurities & he thinks we can be best friends in the future but nothing more (i know -.-) in a stark contrast he also proposed to continue having a sexually exclusive relationship, but i told him i couldnt do it. last thing said was that he'd keep checking up on me. Its only been a week NC... but im pretty sure he will text me before the 30 days are up, we agreed to check in on each other, if i just ignore him when he does... won't he just assume im playing stupid games to get him back? its only been a week but i already feel 10x better... my feelings are fading... there is something about knowing without a doubt a man doesn't want you (he explicitly said he isn't inlove anymore or want me romantically) that makes it easier... i actually do think we can be friends in the future though at the moment i want more. just asking if i should still be NC for the 30 days if i already told him he could check in.. if i ignore and contact him after a month.. wouldn't he be turned off further from any sort of relationship platonic or otherwise? it'd be like he gave me an olive branch of friendship when i want more & i turned it down... what do you guys think?

Started dating my friend's brother I met at a wedding. He ended up asking me out and we had an incredible first date. We have so much in common and he clearly was very into me. He ended up spending the night but we just made out and had fun. He's a divorced 32 yr old from the burbs and I'm 29 living in NYC.

He called me every day the past week and chatted and was so excited to see me. He invited me over to his house that he bought with his ex wife and I went since it was on the way to my parents. It wasn't about sex, so that's out of the question. All we did was make out and he knew I wasn't interested in sex too soon.

I was sick that day but didn't want to cancel, and was stressed from work, so when I showed up, I wasn't really feeling well and tried to put on a good face. However, I ended up saying several things to make it seem like I didn't like his suburban lifestyle, and said I felt uncomfortable being in his ex wife's house. He knew I was uncomfortable and so it got very serious rather than fun. BUT, we still ended up having some fun and made out a lot and he was very caring to me not feeling well. He even offered to get me breakfast in bed the next day and drove me an hour because I was running late to meet my family and he felt bad. He was very chatty in the morning and kissy and acted like everything was fine. When I left he said have a nice weekend and talk to you soon and gave me a big hug and kiss.

Later that day I sent him a text thanking him for the ride and saying it was nice to see him and that I forgot my charger at his place. He said he was sorry about the charger and that he would give it to his brother to give to me this week. I said thanks and teasingly asked if that meant I wasn't going to see him again. He didn't respond. The next day I wrote him a note saying I was sorry for not feeling well and ruining the date he planned for us. No response. Is he done and can I do anything? He still seemed to like me when I left him.
