I saw an interesting article a GAG user posted on this subject and I found it interesting because I've noticed the same things. Why do people stay together in relationships they obviously aren't happy in? I've noticed a couple of married friends showing the same signs. Both husbands don't wear rings but the wives do. Not. Both men own businesses and have side jobs or more than one side job even tho they do not need the money. They both also spend their free time around friends or at the gym and as a result they are hardly home.

They hardly ever talk about their wives nor wear their rings but if they do talk about their wives its to complain about stuff they do. I've met the wives and seem fairly nice but the couples obviously have nothing in common and don't have shared extra curricular interests.

The ironic thing is both men have close female friends who they treat well (I.e chivalry, pay for everything, shared interests and etc.) And if their wives are present...they don't seem to have the same courtesy with their wives...they don't pay as much to their wives with the same attention if their wives are present.

As far as fidelity goes, one has cheated in the past at least once that I know of (with the most random person ever) and yet him and his wife are still together. They also use different last names too.

The second guy has never cheated and would never cheat.

Both men have at least one kid. And although they don't seem to act. Happy...they do respect their wives enough to be reliable and and are honest if asked where they are.

I don't know what's wrong with these men. They don't seem happy but still are staying in their relationships. They can easily get out..especially when. Things are written in a way where the women cannot get half of the business if there is a divorce.

If they aren't happy...why stay if they are hardly home, complain all the time, and treat a female friend better?

Or are they happy? Thoughts?

I've been with my current boyfriend for 5 years. Parents don't care for him, long story. But my mom keeps saying that I couldn't possibly know that he is the "one" for me if I have never dated around. Is this true? Granted he is my first boyfriend, but that doesn't mean that I haven't been around guys, or been involved with other guys. I've been around the block enough times to know what a frog looks like. I have never gone on a date for fun an a free meal (heard that one tooo many times), only if I could see myself being with that person for a while. I also have several good guy friends and pay close attention to my friends and their bf's, husbands, etc. SO why should I ruin a perfectly good relationship just to date around? I mean dating isn't like tasting flavors at an Ice cream parlour. Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, hmm... I'll have the chocolate. WTF? I don't get it. What do you think? Is dating around necessary or can you simply know? I thought a poll would be fun. Thanks guys!
