Search Results: moved too fast

So there's this girl in two of my courses at my university, that I've always found really cute, and whose face always stood out from a crowd to me. I've always thought her personality seemed really nice to match as well. She always seemed smart, outgoing, kind, a bit goofy/funny, etc. Therefore, I've always had a bit of a crush on her.

I've never really interacted with her, though, as I'm much too shy... and the few times I actually DID, I wasn't very nice to her.

The first interaction I've had with her was when me, her, and another girl had to do a group project. I tried my best and did contribute, but I contributed the least. I truly tried my best, but I was just too slow paced compared to them.

I don't think this mattered much, though, as another day afterwards, when me and her were entering the classroom at the same time, she glanced behind and smiled sweetly, and when we actually entered the classroom she smiled sweetly and held the door for me. Which was great. But the thing is, I was RUDE to her. I just kept an emotionless poker face, and didn't even thank her. It's not like I didn't want to, but I was surprised my crush was actually giving attention to me, and it seemed like she walked away from the door rather fast. But I still definitely could've smiled back and thanked her. I was a fucking idiot.

Another day, she had recently been moved into another one of my courses as well... then when the class was over, several people were exiting the door at the same time holding it, and though she wasn't holding it alone, she still put her hand on the door and sweetly smiled at me. I was tired as fuck that day, and thought it was just someone who looked like her because I never saw her in that course before, but it actually WAS her. So again, I didn't smile, nor thank her.

Then yesterday, she held the door for me, and I thanked her and she smiled and said "mhm", meaning I redeemed myself... but then as I was a few feet away from her, she said, "Oh my god, than

I keep reading eveywhere that you gotta move fast, you gotta escalate, you can't let a girl lose interest or get bored or she's jumping to the next dude... these days if a guy waits a week to ask a girl out he's being too slow and she just moves on... like really? is that a thing?

I didn't know guys were entertainers or circuss workers i thought we as guys approach women we like, build some rapport and ask them out to get to know them, I hear from so many men online and offline that women that were throwing themselves at them lost interest a week later and kinda flaked on them or didn't go out with them... and all i can think of is really? do women do that? do women have a time frame in their head and if the guy takes a day longer than they want him to he's not longer good?

How can guys ever take women seriously with all these rules, especially when women have no idea what goes through guys head talking to them, the rejection, the embarassment, the sexual harrasment accusations if you hit on the wrong chick... and in addition to all that if you take your time to not be creepy or annoying she loses interest.

All i want to know is : is it real or do women say this to hide the fact that they never liked said guy?
