10 years ago I was in the middle of a love triangle. My a friend from high school liked me and I conceded that I had a crush on her but was unsure of a relationship. I went to college. Dated a new girl briefly. When my high school friend found out she was furious! She swore never to talk to me again. And she didn't. For 10 years.

I reached out to her best friend to find out how to make amends. I had never met her before. Her best friend joked that her friend could get emotional. We laughed it off. Next thing you know, we meet, there is an intense connection, she asks my friend if we can date. The friend agrees. And we date for 6 months. We are both in different colleges and it is long distance. I then move out of state so we break up. A year later we rekindle things, but I am away on business. It is long distance. Then after a near sex experience (I had never lost my virginity)... she dumps me.

10 years later, the friend is my coworker. We rekindle our friendship. My presumption is that she tells my ex girlfriend (her best friend still) details of me and what is new in my life. I admitted to my high school friend that I was coming to terms with being sexually abused as a kid at the time that I dated her best friend (my ex). I told her that it impacted who I was during my relationship (made me act strange in intimacy). Since then I've gotten help and Im a lot better.

I wrote a short fiction story. It was selected for a public reading at a bar. I invite my high school friend (now coworker) to come. I tell her that she can invite anybody and rattle off names of coworkers. Instead, she sends me a text at 12 a. m. asking if my ex-girlfriend can come see me read my story.

I haven't seen my ex-girlfriend in 10 years and she was the first person I fell in love with. What's the dealio here? By the way, the short story I will end up reading in 2 days in front of them? A romance... Oh boy! Haha..

Just to clarify, I'm in a happy relationship and I'm not whining about the friend-zone. I'm just trying to explain to women the way guys think about it because it seems that many women can't understand why guys feel frustrated about the whole thing.

I just read a take on the friend-zone where a girl who does understand basically told guys that if they don't like the friend-zone that they should leave, that they aren't obligated to stay. This is what I always suggest myself, and it's what I've always done in the same situation.

Usually, many women will ask "what's wrong with just being friends? Friendship is awesome, you should be glad to have another friend".

I think that the equivalent to the friend-zone for a woman would be the "fuck-buddy-zone". You want a relationship, and you meet a guy you really like, and you see him as boyfriend material. But when it comes to progressing towards a relationship, he just wants to be fuck buddies.

Sometimes, just as with the friend-zone thing, people are fine with that. But a lot of the time it causes frustration, and the idea that he doesn't see you as "good enough" for a relationship.

I think this is where a lot of the frustration of certain guys comes from - the idea that the girl is saying that he isn't good enough.

Guys, would you agree?

So my best friend has a habit of late replying and sometimes not replying for even days. It sucks to be honest as I just can't stand when a person doesn't reply on time. But because his family was not in good condition and he was tensed because of some stuff in the past I ignored it. Also because he is my best friend, I have ignored it more than ever. There have been times when I have asked him something and he has replied after a few days saying yes or no, I mean Wtf man. A few days ago I asked him something and he saw it and didn't replied. After two days he texted me saying yes (answer to my question) and I should come to his home because he was free and we both could have fun. I mocked at his late reply saying isn't that a very fast reply to which he replies saying "hahaha". I mean wtf. I didn't replied to him after that. I feel his this attitude will ruin our friendship.
