I'm looking at buying a new laptop, as my current Sony Vaio is over 6 years old, and is running on an outdated processor (Intel Pentium M740, 1.73Ghz and a 512MB RAM).

I can't decide on whether the Sony Vaio VPC-CB2MOE/B or the HP Pavilion DV6-6B51SA is better? Any advice?

Both have an integrated webcam and weigh around 2.9kg (not that I'm planning to carry it around with me). The HP comes in a metal body, and has drop sensor technology to detect the laptop falling. Both models are selling at £699 (approx. US$1,120).

I'm only planning to use the laptop for general internet use, watching DVDs, transferring songs onto my iPod and the odd gaming, such as a few hours a week online gaming (eg. WoW).

Please don't tell me to get a Macbook, as it's outside my budget and I'm not sure I can get use to the software. As much as I like my Apple iPod and with the possibility of upgrading my Android to an iPhone I don't want all my technology to be made by Apple!
