I asked a question regarding stay-at-home motherhood, & a lot of people said "that's sexist!!! What about stay-at-home fatherhood?"

But stay-at-home fatherhood *isn't* as practical as stay-at-home motherhood. Unless a family is fine losing income whenever the mother needs to take off work for morning sickness during pregnancy:

"70% of women experience moderate to severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy... Half of pregnant women end up having to miss work due to nausea and vomiting, 74% of which miss at least 3 days."

And even when you're in work, it's understandable it'd be harder to work as efficiently when you're in so much pain from nausea, body aches, heartburn, etc. So the man could probably get income more efficiently.

After the birth, men don't have the breasts necessary to breastfeed for the 2+ years recommended by doctors the optimal physical/emotional well-being of the child.

Someone pointed out that mothers rarely keep breastfeeding for that time, which is true, but that's because most mothers have to go back to work, which wouldn't be the case in stay-at-home motherhood.

Some people advocated breast-pumps, but that's still depriving the child of the unique hormonal benefit of oxytocin that comes from latching against the mother's breast.

Anyway, even from a feminist perspective, stay-at-home fatherhood isn't ideal because studies show that women do most of the housework even when the man doesn't have a job.

It's true that SAHM means women make less money economically, but the greater bond with the children also means that the children will be more willing to financially support them later.

Before the kids have jobs, it makes it harder for the woman to escape an abusive relationship, which is why we should advocate for available/suitable shelters/services for abused women, rather than advocating more women in the workforce.

Crazy sister in law. She is making my life miserable. She’s said horrible things since my husband and I started dating. Now she and her husband are constantly sticking their noses where they don’t belong.

It is mostly about religion. They started very openly criticizing our church attendance the past few months. Well I’m pregnant and spent every day for about 10 weeks puking. So no we didn’t leave the house ever before 2pm really.

Well finally after sensing tension my sister in law brings it up. I tell her that we don’t appreciate the judgement and after the comments made by her and her friends from church that I don’t think we’ll be going back. She immediately was like “Well you never told anyone you were sick!” (Well people should know that sometimes people have things going on i their lives that you don’t know about) She very much knew I was pregnant and when I started to to complain about the morning sickness at first she shut me down saying “some women pray for those symptoms” (she’s been trying to get pregnant for almost 2 years). So I kept my mouth shut about it. And no I don’t tell anyone else at the church because it was first trimester and I wanted to wait to tell most people till the chance miscarriage declines after week 13. Well anyway I told her It don’t matter if she knew I was sick or not, it wasn’t her business. I told her if she wanted us to have a half way decent relationship that they needed to stay out of that stuff. (In the same conversation she also criticized my husband for drinking). So she says they will stay out of it.

2 weeks later they cross the same damn line again. Trying to tell us not to take a job offer that would literally double our income. They said it was risky. And that the owner of the company wasn’t trustworthy. Here’s the kicker: her husband works for the same damn company and has spent the last year raving about how great it is to work there.

So frankly we are both ready to be done with them. Is that so wrong?
