I was arguing with this FGM advocate on twitter who was adamant the practice is good and harmless. She calls it female circumcision and says women have an equal right to get circumcised as men do. I said it is used to control female sexuality, and she started rambling about how the West is degenerate and allows female promiscuity. She was convinced that female circumcision makes wives less adulterous and hence marriages are stronger, as well as that sex with circumcised women is more pleasurable for men.

She said that stopping women from undergoing the cut yet men are allowed to get circumcised is discriminatory.

She said: “Every citizen has a right to equality and freedom from discrimination but the law shows open intolerance to women who wish to undergo female circumcision even for the purpose of upholding their culture. They are treated unequally to the men who undergo similar surgical procedure”
