SUMMARY:

I place great stock in humor, its a big part of who I am. I have a very playful flirting style. My question is: If I were to combine my sense of humor with romance in a poem (I can't stand most poetry), would it still come across as romantic, or as a joke?

It would feel "wrong" to write something personal and not include my style of humor, as if I was betraying who I am.

I know each answer to this will vary heavily from girl to girl as to how they would react, since every girl responds to things differently. I would like answers based on your own opinion so I can get a sort of ground level of what to expect. I really do not want to "bare my soul" to someone and have them think I don't take them seriously, or worse, that I'm mocking them.

This question applies to a girl whom I did not know very well as we would be in the initial stages of a relationship, if I knew them well enough I would know the answer.

Do you think this would be a good way to determine whether or not I'm compatible with a person?

A female friend told me that she figured me out and I was confused until she explained it to me. I like romantic movies, stuff like walks on the beach and candle lit dinners, come up with great date ideas, sensitive, learned guitar for a girl, done a lot of crazy things for love, write music/poems and stories (plus listen to a fair amount of love songs) and really, really care for a girl when I have one.

On the outside I'd say I'm pretty average, comedic, exercise regularly, play sports and a big car car guy. I tend to be shy at first but open up with time.

I looked up what she said: "hopeless romantic" on urban dictionary and sure enough that is definitely like me. Though I never really tell anyone/show too much (aside from being caring and compassionate).

So girls, what do you think of a guy like this? average with tough qualities but a lover on the inside, you've got to dig deep though because he doesn't just let anybody know :)
