I do something similar as I do have a very much thicker than average dick.

Usually the first 5 times we have sex I will do it. However not the entire time, usually the first 10 or 20 thrusts.

I usually do it along the lines of :-

After inserting (all in) full withdraw.
2nd : Slow full, fast full withdraw.
3rd : Fast half, fast full withdraw.

Wait few seconds.
6th : Slow full, slow full withdraw.
