In my case, I snore loudly. I like to spoon with my partner, just like the couple in your picture (but without all those clothes!) My ex was deaf in her right ear and she preferred to sleep on her left side. I got to spoon with her and my snoring never woke her. (And she was closer to the bathroom AND I was between her and the bedroom door.)

If you stand at the foot of the bed and look at it, I sleep on the left side of the bed. In our current apartment, that means I sleep closest to the door.
