Participants in these "reality shows" agree to and sign heaps of legal papers. They know what they are getting into. It's the "tension"- whether real or scripted- that makes this a "show" capable of holding an audience. While some may find it OK and others may think it's disrespectful, the question is moot as far as the participants are concerned.
I would be more worried about the (general) declining level of useful content in shows in general.
