Is catcalling in the U. S. really that bad?

I'm sure most of you have seen that video of that woman walking in New York getting catcalled all the time. For those who haven't here it is

Which got me wondering, is it really that bad in the U. S? I live in the UK at the moment, from Norway originally and I've lived in Germany/ Switzerland too and I've been catcalled about 2 or 3 times in my life.
Now I've asked out randomly on the street a few times, but they were nice about it. I think catcalling doesn't really happen here.
I think I'm reasonably attractive, it's not that I'm ugly and I've asked a lot of my friends and they all say the same thing, it has hardly ever or never happened to them.

It just seems odd that the U. S. would be so different there
