As a straight, white man, should I just keep quiet on any conversation about discrimination and minorities (sexism, racism etc.)?

Firstly, I'm not homophobic, racist or sexist. I often point out family members or friends more discriminatory comments (e. g. my Dad doesn't think gay men should be allowed to kiss in public and my mother syas he wouldn't get into a cab driven by a black man. I've argued with both of them about this.)

That said, when it comes to fighting for equality, I'm not sure my opinions are welcome.

I can't understand what it's like to be persecuted due to my race, gender or sexuality. So should I just keep out of the debate and let it sort itself out?

I can't help but feel that I'm unwelcome in these equality movements.
