Do you believe we're headed towards an era where literally all media and art has to be free of any offense or strong content? Would you support this?

  • Yes - If even one person is bothers or triggered by something it has to be banned
    Vote A
  • No - If they do this it will become very unprofitable for Hollywood and Publishing companies

  • I think so, everything is so offensive unless it’s a comedy because most of the time that’s acceptable.

  • If we starts censoring everything, then there would be no democracy or freedom speech and people can't express their opinions. Most creators use a trigger warning, have an age limit on things and makes it clear that their work are supposed to start a debate.

It depends from country to country how controlled the medias are. In totalitarian regimes like in South-Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia etc. it's strictly controlled, but in most Europeans countries etc. it's not. I doubt there would be any strict control soon because people would just start a riot if someone suggested it.

  • No. Hollywood will always use it, they know it’ll cause a reaction out of people which means they’ll get more views lmao.

  • That's what the trigger warnings are there for: to make people aware that there might be something in the contents of the artwork that might be triggering/distressing for them, and thus to make an adult decision on whether or not they want to watch it.

Movies have ratings elsewhere, to assist people in coming to that decision.

Whether trigger warnings actually work, I think you would have to seek the counsel of scientist folks who do research in this area to find out.

Do you know New York at all? That Trump doll is being displayed in Union Square which is a huge public square used for presentation and large protests. That Hillary doll is down by Whitehall, the wall street area where they were ordered to beat the shit out of Occupy protesters. Try again. Go put that hillary doll on TV and see what happens

      Its been on TV though..

  • It is amazing to me some of the things people find offensive now. A couple years ago I visited a relative who had a collection of old Mad Magazines; they were much funnier than the new version, and a lot of the stuff they probably wouldn't print now, even though it was spot-on social commentary.

  • That's not possible. Offense is in the eye of the beholder.

  • It's currently being controlled in a healthy manner: people are voting with their wallets. A lot of corporations are pretty skittish about social media blowback these days, but that's on them

  • No. No everything is offensive to everyone. Remember that u can’t please all the people all the time. Just stop now as it is futile.

    • You're already starting to see people share a lot edgelord type content just to be rebellious. Banning things only makes people want it more.
