What are the consequences of being charged with domestic battery?

I know someone who was charged with domestic battery several years ago BUT the charges were dropped.

I recently found an article that he was charged with domestic battery and strangulation just a few months ago. Is that considered attempted murder?

Would he do prison time for this?

  • Well if he did spend time in prison it would do him some good trying to strangle someone what the heck lol

  • Ok, so the real thing is not being charged with it, but actually going to court with it and convicted.

Someone being charged doesn't automatically mean they are guilty.

The penalties vary a great deal depending on the circumstances. There are some courts that don't take this kind of violence very seriously so they don't get very serious penalties.

He could go to prison for that, but it's hard to guess. Your best way of figuring it out would be to find out who the trial judge is and look at that judge's record on such cases.

  • In some countries, none. Mine you go to jail, and make sure you don't drop the soap in the shower.

  • Strangulation can cause death so it needs to be seen as attempted murder.
