Can someone logically and civilly explain to me how being pro-life is “anti woman”?

To let everybody know that off the bat I’m pro choice when it comes to incest or rape scenarios (they actually make up a tiny percentage of all abortions). I’m also very pro-birth control. I do fully support state sponsored birth control and I say that as a conservative.

But this whole liberal argument that “if you are anti abortion you are anti woman” is complete SJW mental gymnastic bs to me. Shithead guys who care nothing about women actually love abortion because it lets them off the hook if the girl gets knocked up. They don’t have to pay child support or do anything for the kid’s upbringing. Also women have DIED during botched abortion procedures.

So someone explain how his is “anti woman” when she has endure a temporary inconvenience (if she puts the kid for adoption) vs saving the life of a healthy child?

  • Well.. Its anti-woman on several different levels. On the most basic of levels however is this.

First of all people have the right over their own bodies:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodily_integrity
This is more or less what enables women to make the decision of having an abortion in the first place and prevents other people such as the father from having any say.

Secondly we have to define what a human is and is not. This is more tricky but basically boils down to a long list or process of eliminations to narrow down what can't be considered a human individual.

Through this process of eliminations we discarded things like DNA, living, organs and a bunch of other stuff as not being part of a human individual, we however ran into the limits of our knowledge when we came to a functional brain which is where most countries draws the line for abortion because of this reason. If you are interested why these things are eliminated as possibilities we can certainly have that conversation.

Either way back to the question, how do these two points mean that pro-life is "anti-woman"? Well the logic goes that if the child has not developed into a person yet its just a bunch of bodily parts connected to the woman. This in turn means that it becomes part of her body and she has the complete right over it through the thing I pointed out earlier.

Denying her an abortion is a breach of one of the most fundamental human rights someone can possibly have and is specifically directed towards women which makes it "anti woman".

@Rissyanne Its more of a helpful reminder since without your stupidity what else do you have? Its a limited resource so you should use it where it matters and not when its just so wrong that it turns into a farce.

      You idiot here it is

  • Guess why women have died because of abortions gone wrong. It´s because of unsafe procedures, performed in unregulated settings. Those deaths are usually due to infections. Abortions have to be done legally under safe circumstances, in a hospital setting. That´s why being anti abortion is also being anti woman. so many women die every year because of abortions being illegal or socially stigmatized.

Many women have died from LEGAL abortions too.

    • 2 d ago

      No, that is extremely rare.

  • "Shithead guys who care nothing about women actually love abortion because it lets them off the hook if the girl gets knocked up. They don’t have to pay child support or do anything for the kid’s upbringing. "

This has literally nothing to do with "caring about women".
Child support does not benefit the woman, kids do not benefit women, not having kids at the wrong time is what benefits women.

"Also women have DIED during botched abortion procedures. "

Mortality rate of abortions - 0.6 per 100,000.
Mortality rate of giving birth - between 17 to 28 per 100,000.
As per findings of the centers for disease control.

As per findings of comparative studies conducted by Gynuity Health Projects, New York, they state the following-
"Legal induced abortion is markedly safer than childbirth. The risk of death associated with childbirth is approximately 14 times higher than that with abortion. Similarly, the overall morbidity associated with childbirth exceeds that with abortion."

"a temporary inconvenience (if she puts the kid for adoption) vs saving the life of a healthy child? "

You think getting expelled from school and never getting to finish your education is a "temporary inconvenience"?
Up to 70% of women who have gotten pregnant during their education are forced out of it (whether by legal means or illegal discrimination), and 51% of them never get to finish their high school education, compared to 90% of those who have never gotten pregnant.

The most likely age group to undergo an abortion are high school and college students aged between 15 to 24.
Of which 83% are unmarried, 67% will NEVER get to marry and 57% of them are from low-income backgrounds.

As for "putting children for an abortion"-
In just ONE YEAR the amount of new children in the system would more than double, raising the average adoption waiting time of 7 years to the average waiting time of 21 years.
In other words, the foster care system would collapse in just one year.

    • 2 d ago

As for actual adoption rates, about 50,000 adoptions occur every year in the US.
The abortion rates are currently at well over 600,000.
      You can do the math.

  • Imgaine for a moment that all the have a surplus of timberwolves. They're killing all the cows, ruinging the local economy, and we really need to cut down on the number of timberwolves.

Now imgaine, that some politician comes up to you, and says they just passed a law.. they're going to protect the timberwolves. And they're going to do it by forcing you to have a part of your bicep surgically removed, and the meat given to them to feed them. Further, after doing this, you're going to have to have a pet timberwolf for the next twenty years.

Now, tell me how you feel about this law?
What about this sounds like a good idea to you?
Because it's analogous to what women have to go through for anti-abortion laws.

We're overpopulated. There's too many people for our resources and economy, and it's destroying our environments and economy as the middle class continues to disappear. Then, in spite of this, people are passing laws to encourage MORE babies than literally are wanted, and pregnancy wrecks havoc on a woman's body, way worse than removing part of your bicep. THEN they're forced to raise the thing that they never even wanted in the first place (which almost guarantees it's not going to get raised properly.)

  • I feel like I've argued waaaay to much about abortion in the last two days but the alternative would be to start my English paper so anyways here it goes... you'd be anti women because you'd be more concerned about something that isn't even born yet over a real thinking, feeling human being. You'd be anti women because to ban abortions would mean women have less rights than a dead body. We require their relatives agreement to take someones organs when they die. Or they had to agree with it when they were still alive. So if we can't even take take organs that literally have no use anymore to safe someones life because we value bodily autonomie over anything else, why should women not have the same right? In conclusion, if you think banning abortion is ok, you'd think a dead body deserves more rights than a women hence making you anti women

So having that child vs aborting is guaranteed to completely destroy that women’s life? It’s like the worst kind of STD or something? Adoption makes no difference?

"We think a persons right to choose what to do with their own body is more important than saving lives"- but you don't though. Under the 'my body, my choice' argument used to justify abortion, you should have no issue whatsoever with self-abortion either- namely, suicide, and euthanasia. Or with any form of substance abuse, including illegal drugs, smoking, alcohol, fat and sugar intake, and the consumption of meat, along with dairy products, eggs, and any other 'unethical products' (e. g, palm oil, aspartame, MSG). Or with prostitution, pornography and the sex industry, for that matter, so long as the participants do so freely, exercising their "right to choose what to do with their own body" to prostitute themselves. Are you fine with all of these things- do you have no problem whatsoever with anyone doing any of these things? Or are you being a tad hypocritical?

    • 2 d ago

Actually this is exactly my view. Prostitutions is legal anyways here in germany. I see nothing wrong with it. or with any other job in the sex industry And making it legal makes it safer for the women cause the can turn to the law enforcement for help if a client is abusive. I also support euthanasia or suicide. Of course this should be the last option and I'd try to talk anyone out of it. But I know I'd be happy to have the option of assisted suicide when I'm ill and have to live through teribble pain with no hope of an cure. As for the 'unethical food' that's a different story. I believe in doing whatever you want as long as you are the only one that could be hurt. But if a company uses palm oil for their product we all will be fucked in the long run.
About the fat and sugar intake, I think people sould be warned about what they consume. There should be labels of some sort that warns the consumer about excecive amounts of fat and sugar in a product. But ultimately it's their choice to make.
The only thing I'd have a problem with is drug abuse. Weed should be legal if alcohol and cigarettes are but anything else not. The harm that would be done outweights the importance of the freedom to do whatever you want with your body. I also think drinking or smoking during a pregnancy should be illegal. So there are exceptions to the rule 'my body my choice'

  • By keeping abortion illegal you are forcing women to either
    a) Never fulfill their basic human need to have sex
    b) Going through pregnancy against their will ( which is destructive towards her body and health, it's not temporary)

    So yes, it is anti-women

  • You said it yourself that you are okay with abortion in the case of rape. But why? Is it any less a child? What's the difference? The difference is the woman didn't choose to have sex. That's the only difference. Nothing else is different. Nothing.

So, if that is the only difference, it can not be the "child" that bothers you, but the choice a girl made to have sex. You're just trying to pass shut shaming into legislation. And that's anti woman until any attempt is made to do the same thing for men.

And that is why the Alabama legislation does not make exceptions to rape/incest. When pro lifers give an inch, pro choicers take a mile.

If a rape victim decides to keep her child than that is an incredible person. Yes that child did absolutely nothing wrong. But that child will be a constant reminder to the woman that he/she was conceived via a horrible violation. That is the only scenario we’re I’m pro choice (and incest) and it’s not an easy issue to debate.

  • Because these people think that everyone thinks the same way they do, and has the same underlying hidden motives for supporting things that they do. They try to argue that "if you are anti-abortion you are anti-woman", and genuinely believe that, because that's the underlying reason why the most of them themselves are pro-abortion. Because those who shout the loudest in support of extending abortion (even so far as decriminalizing infanticide, and removing all legal protections for both unborn and unwanted infants, as NY and three other US states already have done) are the most fanatical, rabid, androphobic misandrists. Simples.

  • I agree. If you take away all the stupid reasons bwhy women have had abortions you will be left with a very small amount that are beneficial to the mother. Even then you could whittle that down even further, to thoughs were the mothers life is at risk. These would be a possible hand full. A friend of mine put off having chemo so as not to put her baby at risk. She was told she would die bif she didn't get an abortion and go on chemo. The baby was born at eight months and mother are doing well , that was 12years ago...

  • What you miss is pro-choice people are not celebrating it or wanting to use it, we just want it to be a possibility if someone needs it as very last option. I’m pro-choice and I’ve been on birth control since the very first time I had sex, I’ve never done it without using protection. Even though I’m pro-choice I don’t know if I would use it, probably not! But I don’t think I should force other people to do what I would do. I think pregnancy should be a choice, something wanted not an imposition. I would honestly feel violated if someone forced me to carry on a pregnancy I didn’t want.

To answer your question it’s anti-woman because you put a potential life in front of a already living, breathing and thinking human being, forcing her to become a tool to develop a formed child

Also keep in mind that saying abortion is illegal won’t stop it to happen. Women always got abortions all over the centuries, but they were done in a very brutal way in very poor conditions and many died because of it. Keeping it legal prevents these things to happen, even if you’re pro life you should consider that. Abortions didn’t increased when they became legal, they were just safer.

    • 2 d ago

Many women have died in LEGAL botched abortions. I’m going to work on getting the statistic links

While I do agree that many abortions will go underground these laws will still make many women go through with the pregnancy. And their are many infertile couples WAITING to adopt children. I’ll get you the stat link on that too.

But it’s “anti woman” if you want to save the life of a unborn baby girl?

  • same liberal logic that says if you're against illegal immigration, you're a racist. If you support President Trump, you love white supremacy, and that you should have free speech unless it's conservative speech. They don't make sense and it doesn't even bother them. Women tell the government to "stay out of their bodies", but they want the government to pay for everything dealing with their bodies. You gotta have a little bit of crazy in ya to think there is any logic to this way of thinking.
