Now I'm from Malaysia so in terms of American Media, politics and what not I'm not familiar with them. My answer requires opinions from both sides of the argument so and yes the question 'is the media biased?" It's from my assignment and it requires me to use it as the same way as the question did. Sounds to me that I pissed you off a bit hahaha no hard feelings bud
... No, see that's not the issue. I hear what you're saying but you're not getting me, I don't think-- this isn't a "there are both sides" discussion here, despite that being how people mistakenly frame it. What I mean is that the issue is far too complex to simply answer with "yes" or "no." You need to be specific in the WAYS in which "the media" (again, whoever the hell that actually is) is biased, and how that bias appears, and so on. If the literal assignment your professor gave you is simply "is the media biased," then your professor doesn't know what they are doing and has simplified a very complex issue for you, which is not what professors are supposed to do. Tell your professor that someone on the Internet, who actually knows what they're talking about (me), told you to tell them that.
No one is pissed off, no one has done anything wrong, it's just annoying to see Americans answering questions that are actually massive, complicated questions and because they don't feel like thinking about them very hard, they instead have it reduced to a very simple question in order to make it more easily digestible. I hope your professor understands that.
It's always been that way. First time the media was used as a tool was in Hitlers time when he used propaganda against the Jews. Using posters, airplane banners etc to paint them as monsters
Lol it depends mostly on the country. In the country where I'm from which is Malaysia, there's no CNN or FOX news liberal or conservative bias so i can't really sort of speak on behalf of the media in my country so that's why assignment requires opinions.
Maybe you'd want to include the context of the country in your question.
But there are legitimate, reliable sources of news.
@Guardian45 I know there are like BBC. I wouldn’t trust Fox
@AuroraRoseat 😄 that was funny. If the BBC aren't biased, then we live on the moon.
