I have always wondered this, and I just don'z understand. A lot of people seem to dislike how things are, but yet almost no one ever votes for a different party for once. Why? A country with only 2 important parties does not seem very democratic to be, as pluralism is a very important part of democracy. Doesn't this appear to be a problem for americans?
Especially since the number of people who actually vote is really low in the US one would think that instead of not voting they could vote for a third party if they dislike the big two ones. Sure, it wouldn't be many, but in reality it's so few that they absolutely don't make any difference at all, and I just can't think of an explanation for this.
