Is it transphobic to be critical of transgender people?

Look i hate starting off like this, but im a black man who considers himself bisexual. So saying i'm any kind of phobic is just ignorant. That said, why does it seem like any time you criticize a transgender person, you're immediately labeled trans-phobic. Doesn't matter what it is, doesn't matter how justified it may be. You say anything that doesn't cradle their egos and you are everything in the book to them.

It's honestly gotten to the point where it's just easier to avoid transgender people entirely to avoid any trouble.

And side question, if a trans-person is guilty of a horrible crime such as molestation or rape, do they deserve to still be referred to as their preferred pronoun? Personally i do it mostly as a courtesy to transgender people out of respect and for those who i feel deserve it. Should they lose that courtesy if they are found guilty of a terrible crime?
