Well what about when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor? That made Japan an enemy of the U. S. So there wouldn't be any Japanese person translating for the U. S., right? And no German or Italian translator for America either. You wouldn't want your enemy to know about you.
There would be. But more than that anyone can learn any language you know. I'm Swedish. I can still speak English. I also speak a bit of Chinese, acceptable German and tourist level french. Along with fluent Norweigan and Danish.Here. Lets try; Godmorgon! That's good morning in swedish. Now, 9 999 more words and you have a fully fluent working vocabulary. Another 19 999 words and you're a savvy speaker. 500 words a day is fully reasonable if you devote yourself to it fully. That means 20 days to speak a language as well as most people from that country and 40 days to be on a professor level. It takes a little time, but it is pretty easy to learn languages.
Yeah, I know that. I'm Vietnamese but I speak English.
Then you also know that americans can learn and speak Japanese, German or Italian and translate it to those who can not :).

Believe it or not, you can learn a language regardless of your ethnicity. Not to mention just because you're a certain ethnicity, didn't mean you were the enemy. We had German people on our side and Japanese people on our side.
Not quite. There were still people who spoke Japanese in the United States. Besides the fact that there were many Japanese Americans. Also, I hope you realize that you don't need to be of a particular nationality or ethnicity to be fluent in a language.
