Bro, we still don't have paternity leave.
But, I get your point.
Also, what's the difference between third and fourth wave?
Fourth wave is rather contentious. Some argue that there’s a distinction from third wave (1990s to early 2010s) and fourth wave (~2013-Present) a greater stratification of intersectional classes and a move from individualism to more collectivized perspectives seems to be the most cited differences. Pretty sure by law men are guaranteed 12 weeks parental leave. At least Wikipedia says so. This of course doesn’t mean it’s paid.
Ah, yes, forgive me. I meant paid paternity leave. Women also need paid maternity leave as well.
Is this an analogy, or supposed to be real?
Well, I was asking if Feminism helps men with their rights and stuff.
Oh I didn’t see where you wrote “with their rights and stuff” in your question.
Yeah, sorry, I should do that, totally m8.
Thank god someone had some sense 💚

I can understand this now.
Feminism describes what most people in that movement describe it as, "gender equality".
Then yes this very helpful to men too. It allows men to be in healthier relationships with women. platonic or not. But if you want more direct benifits there's that too. For example, fathers get less paternity leave on average compared to women. This kinda sucks for men BUT it also incentivizes employers to hire men since they dont require as much paid leave. Giving men and women equal parental leave helps to make them equal candidates
Exactly, but has the feminist movement done anything to give spotlight on prostate cancer or men's mental health? I think not.
Cmoooon! Don't use the "Oh, women aren't in powerful positions" card on me. It's 2019.
i wasn't... if thats all you got from the article im sorry for bothering you
to simplify it i would just say i personally prefer to have a woman by my side than dragging behind.
But... they are already beside you... because it's fucking 2019.
me? yes ofcourse they are but if you are telling me that feminism is no longer credible you may as well tell me that racism no longer exists and christians and muslims live in perfect harmony... its nearly 2020 is not an argument. if you want a discussion im up for that but if you just want a row im not your man
I'm tired of talking about this "issue". The problem is nearly eradicated. It honestly annoys me to hear over and over again how powerful and privileged I am. Forgive me if I missed the point.
if you are so tired of talking about it why ask the question? seems to me you have plenty to say but only with people who share your attitude and thats fine but no need to get salty with those that dont. also maybe the world of Canada is perfect and if it is then thats wonderful but the rest of the world has plenty of debatable issues and this is an international site after all
I doubt my response would change if I was in the USA either, or most of Europe. Rest of the world is fair game.
i doubt it too
The former, yes. The latter, no. When has Feminism done anything for men that wouldn't benefit women?
Your ideals are good, I agree with them, but your execution of them is horrible. Ignorance is a choice, and that is what most people in Feminism, and their counterparts chose.
Feminism is an ideal that is rotten to the core, there's no saving it. Now that men and women are near equality, egalitarianism is what we need, taking a more gender neutral term to welcome men and women on an EQUAL platform, with EQUAL ideals! To enlighten people!
Can i ask why you asked the question, if you didn't expect others to have an alternate opinion to yours, if you asked for their opinion only so you could shout it down with yours what's the point man?
I don't shout it down, I prove it wrong so you can get either better reasons or learn something.
I'd like for feminism to help women be that way as well.
I mean, soldiers in a revolution seem brutal and evil to those they are rebelling against, even though they are fighting for something good that has been denied them. Ultimately they're in the right and have to be pushy and aggressive sometimes to ensure they are heard. Vast majority are not aggressive, but the ones that are I can understand being justified.
I can understand mostly, but not completely. Please elaborate.
Women might be throwing a protest against wage inequity or sexual assault, and if you see a crowd of 10,000 people screaming you might assume they are aggressive and bad people, when in fact they are just fighting for their right to feel safe and equal. The French revolution seemed evil and aggressive to the French royalty and aristocracy, and it literally killed people, yet now we look back and remember the injustice against those people and see the revolution as necessary. Compared to previous revolutions, there are more people affected and far less violence for what is a really serious issue.Sometimes aggression is required to make progress!
Ah! Yes, of course... I mean, fighting for something like wage inequity that has been proven multiple times to be untrue is ignorance.
I'm only against them because they ARE EQUAL, at least in western Europe and NA.
Violence is not needed for equality, that is a beyond stupid idea. Want to know why we have made no political progress? Because no one wants to be civil and have a real discussion without all this bullshit media claiming egalitarians and men's rights activists are fascists and women beaters.
I mean in some ways sure, but many would argue that the anti-abortion laws attempted to be passed in the southern US is massively unfair and sexist. I think the media has blown up both sides as radical and ridiculous. I have had pleasant conversations with people on both sides and almost never had a negative experience
I agree, the laws are sexist, but I'm tired of being made out to be this monster that needs to be tamed. I can be fair, and ethical on my own without 24/7 misandry being whispered into my ear.
Manspreading, mansplaining, toxic masculinity. It's all bullshit from women who don't know the experience of being a man! It's blatant ignorance at the highest degree!
I agree with most of what you just said there. At this point a lot of the stuff is things we do without noticing. I think an outside perspective of women can be helpful but we as men need to take the responsibility to police ourselves and it should not be controlled by those who, as you say, do not know the full male experience. When I think of toxic masculinity my main thought I'd the historic massive suppression of emotion by men to other men, which I think has contributed to our massively disproportionate suicide rate. I think the terms you mention are wide and some of the things within them are certainly bullshit.
We can agree on that.
I didn't need 3rd wave feminism to figure out women are equal human beings.
if you ask me i'd say we didn't need first or second wave either
Uhh… Dude, 1st and 2nd wave feminism was essential for creating the equality we have today...
no they were not. women had the right to work, get an education, own property and in some cases even vote way before feminism got started. some women had the right to vote even when working class men still didn't have that right. don't believe everything you hear about how women were oppressed. feminists have tried to rewrite history. if you want you can read the books of Ernest Belfort Bax. i haven't yet but i look forward to reading them
Well for instance I live in Sweden and Sweden basically every single political party in power is Feminist meaning we have a full government of feminists in control. This in turn has lead to various improvements for men such as equal paternity leave as women.
Sweden... Yes, your country... The thing about your country is it's overly politically correct. Your feminist government is not effective at governing a country.
Complete nonsense, Sweden is not at all "political correct" and these days I fear that people have no fucking clue what this even means anymore. Otherwise Sweden is doing just fine with a growing population, growing GDP, somewhat high unemployment but this is more to do with the fact that a lot of people dont look for jobs currently in this weak economy (thanks USA and UK), some of the best healthcare and education in the world, one of the highest happiness etc.. etc..Its doing pretty well considering the circumstances of being under the burden of refugees caused by USA fucking around in the middle east, ruining the world economy and the UK being utter cunts messing around with Brexit.
Fair enough, you've proved your point.
@maxgdek Yup, nothing wrong with being called a child molester for simply saying "hello" to a child either...
